If we're posting ads, I messaged the seller of this car. sounds OK, history etc., no bids on the bay but he tells me he's refused offers of £11K....

Out of curiosity? was there ever any "Special Editions", "GL", "De-Luxe", "Titanium", etc. Lotus brought a new "limited edition" Elise out about once every other week, Caterham similar marketing strategy.

986 wise, there was the 550 Spyder. Think that was all?

RS60 and Sport Edition for 987.1 - the sport edition was in lairy Orange I think
Black Edition for 987.2 which has some slight power increase right and limited numbers I think, do these have any other differences also?
981 onwards they jumped on the GTS band wagon.

Well, there was the Design Edition for the 987.1.

Sport was launched in orange but available in other colours. Think there may actually be more white ones than orange ones. At one point a few months ago there were five white ones for sale at the same time, anyway. Have seen black, green and silver, too.

Well, the Spyder 19-inch wheels and a couple of v minor options that were made standard, like xenons and PCM I think, but nothing of significance beyond the 10PS. Not PASM and I don't think you got the diff. There's a low-spec Black edition on AT right now that I think had nothing added to it over the basic BE spec.

Spyder got some lightweight panels I think? And the funny roof obviously.

Spyder and R got the aluminium 9x7 doors. No other light weight panels per se. I suppose the rear deck on the Spyder was bespoke, not sure to what extent it was 'light weight'. R definitely no light weight panels that weren't on regular 987s beyond the doors.

Rear hatch on the 987C weighs a tonne, obvious candidate for weight saving but wasn't done. The aluminium 9x7 doors already existed, so trivial to bolt those on.

Took my 981 to a bodyshop for a quote. He tested the door with something - probably a magnet. He said they are not steel. Standard 981 so nothing fancy.

9x1 is mixed metal monocoque. Quite a lot of aluminium. Some aluminium panels, too. 9x7 monocoque is all steel with an aluminium bonnet and a few models with aluminium doors. No other aluminium panels.

Which 9x7 models had aluminium doors, aside from the spyder?
