If its £36k then its a steal. I was working on more like £40k plus options.
Given that the 4 cyl motors are delayed, if you really can get a 6 cyl Macan for £36k its good value - given the Cayenne is £47k.

I think I need to see official pricing, including options, before passing comment smile

I think your a bit out with your pricing there tbh...

Diesel will be around 43k plus 8-10k approx of options 'needed'

I was told £40k tbh.

I think spec wise, for me anyway - £6k will crack it for options.
All I would want is:

Heated Front Seats
PCM
DAB
Power tail gate
Wheel upgrade of some kind
Privacy
Cruise
Park Assist F&R

I am assuming that its going to be 8 speed auto as standard..

Yes thats sounds more like what I was told by OPC. 43k Diesel, 45k Petrol S and 55k Turbo.

My OPC informed me that the 3.0TDI would be out first as the diesel, petrol equivalent at 3.0l as well and the Turbo. The 2.0TDI is the back end of next year or around a year after launch).

Surely it will be PDK rather than auto and hence 7-speed?

SQ5 is 8 speed auto.
My understanding is the 7 speed S-Tronic is limited to 400lbft?
I would expect the Macan Diesel to have at least 450, if not 500+.

Prices I heard are similar to what Inverted said - 43, 46, 57 for the Diesel S, Petrol S and turbo. As for transmission I was told PDK only, not sure if that referred to launch models or 4cyl as well which should start at 38 apparently. And then there's the options list... It will easily step on the toes of the Cayenne in price but we have to remember we can't compare the 'S' versions + options with the base diesel of the cayenne

Can understand why Porsche want to make these- $$$$$$$

What I can't understand is why anyone, especially those on an enthusiasts forum, would want to buy one.

Because some Porsche owners have family, kids, need extra load capacity, and want a sporting SUV, built by Porsche, that meets these requirements. Many will share a garage with a Porsche sports car.

You can't blame Porsche - they want to sell cars, it's what they do. And the chances are, like the rest of their models, it will be best in class.

Perhaps it's for those Porsche enthusiasts who already have a sports car but also need to transport themselves + family + luggage across very large distances in absolute comfort ??

Much as I love my 911, I would not have wanted to do the 2,000 mile trip we just did in it along with wife, 2 kids and two weeks worth of luggage. Our Cayenne however was absolutely perfect for this and considerabley better at it than our previous X3 (and just to really upset the "enthusiasts", it even managed 38mpg biggrin)

Horses for Courses....so long as they continue to make the sports cars, who cares anyway smile

I think as other have said, there is a huge market for these and I think Porsche will sell loads. I personally will be in the market for something like this next year as my Cayman Black Editon will no longer be practical enough..

Just because its a SUV or what ever terminology you want to give to it, it doesn't mean it has to be ugly!

I'm in for one of these to replace my current Cayenne Diesel. It will be lighter, faster, more efficient and handle better for less money. At circa £50-53k for the Diesel inc options, what's not to like? In fact, I'm also planning to buy one in the US as well to replace an ML.

I was totally against the Cayenne when it was first launched and that remained the case till I drove it. I'm now part of Porsche's target market. If I'm going to buy something practical, I'd rather buy a Porsche than anything else. The Macan is going to sell like hotcakes.

Don't forget some of us also need 4x4 for when the weather gets like this and you need to get somewhere biggrin

Hmmmm, I wonder why any Porsche enthusiast would consider buying a Cayenne / Macan ?? wink

Wrong.

There is snow.....and then there is SNOW and when you live in the country up quite a large hill, only 4x4 + winter tyres will get you anywhere.

I've worked in the tyre industry for the past 10 years so know all about winter tyres and their benefits thank you very much biggrin

Call yourselves Porsche enthusiasts ! The only Porsche many on here seem to be enthusiastic about is there own.

That is not snow....I could even manage that in my 3 series Beemer on summers biggrin

Try this without 4x4 (and this is where the road is flat....on the inclines it gets really fun)

Just accept that some people need a 4x4.

Ok, a Defender is best of all for this but when you also want to use it for Euro tours with the family, a "Posh" capable SUV starts to make a lot of sense IMO
