Interesting points are confirmed optional 918 spyder steering wheel, 4.8 0-62 for the turbo, and optional air suspension. Also if the engine bay pic is not a render (can't say i know if that photo has been lifted from another car in the range), the S seems to have the 3.0 V6.

Not sure if this is new info or not..

Has anyone seen roughly what base price the diesel will come to the UK at.

I had the Q5 with the 3.0D before my Cayman S Black Edition, was a great car and a great engine!

Shame that its not being launched with the SQ5 engine though!

The standard Q5 (3.0D) with launch control is suppose to be 6.5secs 0-62. I am guessing the Macan D will be a little faster than this making the difference between the turbo and 3.0D only around 1.5sec!

Maybe I am answering my own question and why they are not launching with the SQ5 engine as it may be almost as fast as the Turbo!

"IF" that is the case it puts a pretty strong argument towards the D in my mind..

This.

It wouldn't surprise me if they didn't even offer the BTDi. Perhaps letting Audi have that segment. Macan keeps its big guns petrol/turbo only.

I am sure you are correct, I guess all I was saying is that diesels are normally slow off the mark compared to petrols (especially Porsche Turbos) and normally when diesels come into play (apart from economy) is mid range shunt..

Of course the Turbo will be a great car, just saying that I don't think the diesel variant is going to be a slouch either!

I am pretty sure I will go for the diesel but will def try the turbo if I get a chance!

The Q5 has launch control?? Really?

ETA: it appears that S-Tronic cars have a 'hidden' launch control - well, every day is a school day smile

So that's circa the same start point as the SQ5, which comes with Bi-turbo diesel and certain items standard that Porsche always charge for as extra (auto-dimming mirror anyone..?). SQ5 is extremely rapid on the move and will be interesting to see how the Macan diesel S compares (you sure it's not also the bi-turbo engine?). There are limits to how far Porsche can rely on its brand to premium price

Its meant to be almost 150kg lighter than the SQ5 though.
The SQ5 is the top of the Q5 range, the Macan Diesel is at the bottom of the Macan range.
So its no big deal IMHO.

2 weeks to go.
No news today. Microsite has nothing new for a while.
Got to say, I think the microsite is pretty pants.

Yes I think Microsite could be better, also noticed that the car configurator has changed doesn't include Macan buts its had a refresh. At least it's different to earlier in the year.

I wouldn't have thought the launch will be until there are cars available, so some way off yet.

I have also heard the base price is £43k for the diesel but if it's like the Cayenne and needs a lot of extras it will be £55-60k for a decent spec. It then makes the SQ5 look very cheap.

I've been told staff training is at a launch event in Feb in Mallorca. Guessing no one will be driving one in the UK until the demos arrive with the UK launch in March/April
