Fashion is why MOST people buy SUVs. A small SUV presses different fashion buttons from those pressed by a big 4*4. For that reason, the Macan can come damn close to Cayenne pricing without it being much of a problem.
If people actually wanted/needed the car as a 4*4, the Macan would have to be much cheaper (because it is much less car), but that isnt a strong market factor.
Imagine the conversation in the dealership:-
Buyer: What more do I get in a Cayenne? It's only 5k more.
OPC: It is better off road. It is also bigger, obviously, so can carry more kit, etc.
Buyer: It will only be me and the two kids on the school run in Chelsea. My friends say its big enough.
OPC: May as well go for the Macan, then.
(I know PHers dont buy cars for these reasons, so dont waste time telling me how important 4*4 functionality is to you. We are talking about pricing here. And our wants/needs and opinions are largely irrelevant as to pricing, because we are the few and the buyer above is the many.)

A car with links to the Q5 needs to be priced in the same ballpark as the Q5, albeit there will be the usual Porsche premium!

Only if the buyer knows about the extent and significance of the Q5 links. To everyone but us, it is a Porsche full stop. A car journo may mention it. Clarkson certainly will. But most buyers dont read car magazines or even internet reviews. It is cost information of which the buyer is unaware. It will not influence willingness to pay.A car with links to the Q5 needs to be priced in the same ballpark as the Q5, albeit there will be the usual Porsche premium!
I agree with a lot of the comments, on pricing personally if it's too far north of the SQ5 I know what I will buy.
I have already had a Q5 (3.0D) and thought it was a great car, when you factor in you can get an SQ5 with @10% discount and a few years free servicing the Porsche will have to be keenly priced..
Don't get me wrong I want one, but I am not going to pay a huge percentage more just because.....!!

I am not sure that PHers pay much for the badge.
I actively did not want a Porsche BECAUSE of the badge. I came to the reluctant conclusion that the Cayman is the best 2-seater sports car for my wants and needs.
I would certainly not attach any independent value to a Porsche badge on a bloody SUV. It is a family wagon. It performs functions well or badly. It does not have a soul. It will not make you less bald or more attractive. If the Q5 handled as well and sounded as good, I wouldnt pay many pounds more for the Porsche.
(I fear that the Macan is likely to be actually damn good and make me want it.)

There's been talk that only the Turbo comes with Air suspension. Does anyone know if that is only as standard on the turbo but optional on the others, or is it onbly available on the turbo and that's it.

Not sure anyone 'knows' until the specs come out next week, but I assume that the suggestion is that the air suspension is optional on the other models.Ta

Judging by the suspension shot it's a turbo with air.
Forget the air, I didn't realise there was going to be a clubsport package burwoodman said:
Exactly, coupled with the X3/Q5/Evoke pricing. The competition is very good. Porsche must be no more than 10% north like for like. My call being a Turbo for £70k with decent spec. The cayenne is within the price delta cf the X5. X5 30D =£53K, call it £60k with a decent spec(Cayenne 3.0D is about 65k for similar spec. X5 50D = £63k, call it £70k with decent spec. Cayenne Diesel S is £75k with comparable spec.
BMW X3 30D is about £47k with decent spec...Macan+5k. 52k with decent spec? To succeed they must hit a price point and if it's over 55k buyers will shop elsewhere
Hmm, in reality I think the difference is a lot more due to discounts/finance deals and will come down to how crazy one goes on the options list. Here's an interesting alternative for debate - take the new X5 due for UK launch this weekend, the 30d SE is a tidy £47895. For this sum you get the equivalent of PCM/phone prep/DAB, xenons, parking sensors, metallic paint, floor mats, auto tailgate, m/f wheel all as standard BEFORE haggling. Why buy the smaller Macan when you know all of these 'options' will add on another 7k or so making the Macan MORE expensive? It's not even like ORD's conversation between OPC and buyer where the Cayenne costs 5k more - assuming the typical buyer just wants the latest toy outside the private school and so isn't that bothered if its the new Porsche or BMW (let's say the additional prestige of Porsche badge is equalled by the prestige of having the bigger X5).BMW X3 30D is about £47k with decent spec...Macan+5k. 52k with decent spec? One trump card for the Macan in our circumstances is the fact that you can't buy a petrol X3 and the only petrol Q5 is the dinky 4 cyl which we felt was underpowered. We can't really put a price on that. Same goes for the fact if you want a petrol X5 you have to go for the 4.8 or wait for the M.
Stolen from 6speedonlne again, bigger photos from the German mag leak
looks legit, which means exterior might be too... the black strips on the side look naff if true. Annoyingly all the spy shots have that part covered up so looks like they may make it to production. They're also 'featured' in the latest sketch on the microsite

Finally we have the 918 Spyder steering wheel filtering down to the normal model range. The 918 buckets were spotted in Chris Harris' GT3 review, so hopefully all the models will lose the dated 997 era seats and steering wheels in due course.
Couple more...
Basically the German mag got hold of a lightly disguised one, hence still got the black tape along the sills and rear lights must have been photoshopped in as these pics look like there's still a sticker on that rear light. Also you can't see the door cards on the right of the interior, all blacked out with camo.
