Love the pic (and the plate!) and good colour choice. I nearly got the black but very glad I too went Agate Grey.
I did Stelvio last year in my old A5 and it was brilliant (and sunny!) but no comparison on this year even though it did rain hard. We are thinking of doing east coast of Spain down to Malaga way (maybe ibiza??) OR down to Venice then ferry to Croatia. Decisions decisions.
Did you get the PSE? I regret not ticking it sometimes.
I know what you mean about sometimes regretting not ticking the PSE option. I was put off by the negative experience recorded in earlier posts and didn't want to take the risk of spoiling the car.Love the pic (and the plate!) and good colour choice. The money saved more than covered the A 981 MAN plate though. A snip at just over £650.
We seem to share remarkably similar travel plans! After Spain, its back down to Italy, ferry to Croatia and on into Montenegro to check out an opportunity down there.
General question: how many owners took up the free half day driving tuition at the Porsche Experience Centre at Silverstone? Was it worth the journey? I've heard that only a third of owners take up the invite.
Re the Cayman/Boxster debate: Porsche charges more the Cayman than the Boxster because it has decided that this will make it more money than the other way around. Porsche has decided to sting people who do not want a convertible. It justifies the higher price by adding some fairly meaningless bhp to the Cayman and highlights that it drives (a tiny bit) better. It also takes advantage of the anti-Boxster snobbery by telling Cayman drivers that their car is different and better.
The way I see it is this: if you want an open-top and dont mind the way the Boxster looks, Porsche gives you a little present; if you dont want the open-top, you get bent over the sales desk.
Unfortunately, my wife thinks both the old and new B are "Fugly" and "Soapy" (whatever that means) so the decision was made for me. I agree a tiny bit - the Cayman is the better looking car. But for those 10-20 good driving weekend days per year(and more on holidays), who cares how it looks! Maybe next time I shall put my foot down and get the 981 Boxster.

As to Base vs S, I found the base Cayman a bit underpowered, tbh (987). It is probably a bit more fun on country roads (because you can extract more of what is has to give), but I wanted more easily accessible power on motorway and city driving.
I think the argument for a base Boxster is stronger. I am not sure why, but I dont think I would be so concerned about power in the open-top. I would put a higher premium on getting above 4500 rpm and feeling and hearing the engine work.
(My experience of the Cayman S is that it is absolutely effortless at legal speeds on B-roads - sitting in 4th or 5th and pulling as much as you want. But for real fun and hearing the engine roar, the only two gears are 2nd and 3rd...and only really 2nd. If I drove b-roads day-to-day, I would want the smaller engine.)

I was thinking of a Boxster again, and wondered about two things. Apologies if this has been covered before, but I don't think I would get through all 98 pages.
1. Is it genuinely worth having the S over the 2.7? I had an S previously and I just thought that you had to be going a lot faster to stretch the car, there were fewer opportunities to do it, and more opportunities to lose your licwence when you di.
The 2.7 is worth it for the sound-track, you will be going slower but enjoying it more as you will be ragging the engine.1. Is it genuinely worth having the S over the 2.7? You need to option the car up more than the 3.4L though (I still think you need PSE,PDK,PASM whatever you go for) so, don't expect a massive price diff.
It is a shame that you might need to take a little leap of faith with thw 2.7L as the demo cars rarely have the right toys installed so people make the wrong assumptions about the car.

My car's an "S" in close to base specification. I'm much happier with a bit more engine than chucking cash at options. It really is a great car and makes a great sound if you actually use the throttle!Hello fellow pistonheads, some really nice cars on this thread. Has anyone experienced stone chipping like this on their 981 Boxster S with the 20" upgrade. N.B. this damage occurred within the first 10 days of ownership at approx 1000 miles. Damaged to both rear lower bumper sections and to a lesser extent on the lower front wings.
There appears to be no protection at all on for these very vulnerable areas, the shine has been taken of this purchase, as I am reduced to repainting and coating with paintshield film already
