The OP already knows the provenance of the car is rock solid, that was established many pages back.
Precisely, so why did the individual you're defending feel the need to suggest that this badge may have been replaced due to some kind of accident damage ?

FisiP1 said:
You need to re-read that page, he responded(hence the quote in his post) to what I and DC5TEG were talking about(in the hypothetical), it was merely an aside. That is simply how conversations work, sorry to break it to you.
I don't need to re-read any pages thanks. I've no issue with you or DC5TEG, my concern is with Pete A making wild assumptions that have absolutely no credence. Clearly you think that's acceptable. I don't. Though quite why you think his actions defensible remains a mystery.

Enjoy your car Jackwood, they're epic.

Good on Tom for contacting you on a Sunday! I didn't really expect anything else but it's nice to shove one up the Naysayers backsides!

Naturally, all you need do to now to obtain the full PH pedant approval is quickly get a garage built!

Enjoy your purchase mate. Thank you for sharing your day. thumbup
Yeah! You don't want all the rubbers damaged etc hehe

Wrap it up guys, everyone has made their point!!, agree to disagree and let this Thread continue on the subject on hand, this man's GT3 purchase? instead of it being destroyed into a typical bickering war!!

As I said on twitter Jack, looks stunning and still slightly green that you beat me to the purchase.

I still intend to tap you up for the passenger run to commiserate!

Since the posts about the badge I have had both the previous owner AND Tom from 911Virgin contact me about it.
Both parties confirmed that there wa NO previous history involved with the tailgate. When 911V had the car in the top of the 3 was snapped off, so while the car was being machine polished they removed the insignia and placed a new badge on. Nobody noticed it was in the wrong place. Tom is sending me another one so that I can have it re-re-badged in the correct place.
I have been assured by all parties that the car is 100% original (bar splitter). I have no reason to disbelieve that.
But thanks for the concern...
I did exactly the same thing first time I washed my GT3. Bought another badge and put it back on, I don't know if mine was in exactly the right place or not. Don't worry about it, got a great car there!

Epic car OP, I am exceptionally jealous, I'm a million miles down the Porker foodchain from you but your write up is great, thanks for taking the time to post / share, I followed this on my BlackBerry during the weekend ... made for many smiles, its nice to know that whatever the press say, it's not doom and gloom everywhere and some people are living real lives full of positivity....

Trip back down the M6 this morning for work. Although I've read and heard people talk about the engine, until you've really experienced it at full chat you can't comprehend how special it is.
Having driven a 997GT3 for a few days last year this example feels every bit as strong. I suppose at 30k its not even run in.
Getting lots of looks coming down the M6. Are they laughing at the plate? :-)

Vroom vrooom! Don't worry about the plebs mate they just think its a 911 with the wrong badge on the back.

Great thread, great car. Showed my missus on Saturday lunchtime (I was in the dentist chair about the same time you picked up your car in fact), to give her some understanding of what a car can mean to somebody. Enjoy the car - here's to a good summer for it...

Looks like it should be a good (dry) day down here at Oulton.

I'll try an get some video up tonight and some pictures up during the day.

The car feels so different to how I had the Cayman set up. It's going to be like learning to drive all over again. Should be fun.
