Only on PistonHeads rolleyes

What is wrong with you people ? The OP picked up his P & J yesterday, which he's no doubt worked long and hard to afford. Within twenty four hours you're casting aspersions on the integrity of his car. Precisely why I (and from the various PM's I've received since my last post on the Porsche forum, several others) have ceased posting on here.

It's a plastic badge, they've been known to get damaged/torn off when you use a waffle to dry the car.

Congratulations to the OP, I hope you enjoy your new car. Tom & Dan at 911V are indeed great to deal with.

As you were.

Yip - out of order IMO. Nothing nice to say then...

You must be easily annoyed pal.lol

Some folk remove them comeletely, personally i don't see the big deal with it not being in a standard position, if it was mine, i'd remove it altogether, as i prefer the stealthy look!!, however, we're all different!!!
It was in answer to this and you are taking me out of context, a badge in the wrong place would bother me, no offence was meant so please chill out people.

Sorry if any offence has been caused.

It's got nothing to do with "chilling out", it's got to do with thinking about what you post, before you post it. Try putting yourself in the OP's place, and consider what he may think about your comments concerning his new P & J.

This sums up everything that is wrong with this forum. Firstly you have someone questioning why its not garaged then a muppet suggesting the possibility that the car has been in a smash!

I'm sure Henry F can confirm if the paint on the tailgate was within correct tolerance.

I had this issue when selling my Turbo. Owned car for four years. Had a folder full receipts and detailed provenience from day one. Regardless, a muppet buyer wanted me to get confirmation from all the previous owners it had not been involved in an accident as it did not have a turbo badge on the bootlid rolleyes

Seriously people there are more important things in life than
picking holes in others purchases.

@ Slippydiff, Wetwipe.

That's very harsh, I would be thanking pete for pointing it out the badge placement if it were my car - either so I could restore it to factory spec as per my preference, or just so I was aware because I like knowing that kind of thing - we are all different.

I'm sure no malice was intended, I read it totally different to you two.

It's not in the least bit "harsh".
I'm sure no malice was intended, it's merely indicative of the way this forum and quality of the posts on it have deteriorated.

Please tell us which part of the above post you don't perceive as being thoughtless. When you've done so, someone else on here (with more patience than I can muster) can explain to you why it is.

Exactly mate, my FD2 has been debadged, and funnily enough up for sale. If i get the same crap from a potential buyer, they are onto plums. They are off, as thats how i prefer it!(they are in the garage though.lol)
And off, wrong place, wrong colour, don't mean st really does it, and i am quite sure the OP is maybe fully aware of this!!
Sometimes its better just to say nowt!!!!

You need to re-read that page, he responded(hence the quote in his post) to what I and DC5TEG were talking about(in the hypothetical), it was merely an aside. That is simply how conversations work, sorry to break it to you.

The OP already knows the provenance of the car is rock solid, that was established many pages back.

Since the posts about the badge I have had both the previous owner AND Tom from 911Virgin contact me about it.
Both parties confirmed that there wa NO previous history involved with the tailgate. When 911V had the car in the top of the 3 was snapped off, so while the car was being machine polished they removed the insignia and placed a new badge on. Nobody noticed it was in the wrong place. Tom is sending me another one so that I can have it re-re-badged in the correct place.
I have been assured by all parties that the car is 100% original (bar splitter). I have no reason to disbelieve that.
But thanks for the concern...

^^^^^^^

This

I apologised and tried to explain that you were quoting me out of context, not good enough for you then tough, and thank you for resulting to name calling wet wipe , so mature.

I wish the op all the best with what looks a lovely car .

Edit to add, as I pointed it out the Op now has a new badge being sent out free of charge, which Is not a bad result,

@Jackwood It was not my intention to cause you upset, but a side conversation about possible causes of the badge in the wrong place, sorry for any grief.

Good on Tom for contacting you on a Sunday! I didn't really expect anything else but it's nice to shove one up the Naysayers backsides!

Naturally, all you need do to now to obtain the full PH pedant approval is quickly get a garage built!

Enjoy your purchase mate. Thank you for sharing your day. thumbup

The badge is in the wrong place!! Yee gods!! You best get on the phone to 911V and tell them to come and pick up their ringer and give a refund plus damages...

FFS!!

TBH though I'm not surprised the "your centre caps don't line up" brigade turned up...

To the OP- congrats enjoy the fun!! And if you really want to wind the trolls up, tell them you wash it with fairy and cold water, in one bucket... With a 49p jumbo sponge!

Best check whether the cigarette lighter has been used. If it has, for gawd's sake don't post it on here, we'll never hear the end of it... wink

Lovely looking car, OP, well done.

You need to be careful with that cigarette lighter. My local OPC refused to renew my warranty as the cigarette lighter was not in it's rightful place when they checked it over. I told them it was in the door pocket - but they still fitted a new one!

I prefer Cif myself. Don't like the flowery smell of Fairy.
