It means that one of your VTS tags isn't switched on. To turn it on hold down the button on the tag for five seconds and then the 'Cup Cake' symbol will go out
I think we've established that it isn't a cup cake, it's a pint of Peroni. I reckon you're right though, excuse my ignorance but where or what is the button/tag? I will be taking the car in for a software upgrade but would be good to sort this particular issue with the help of the massif.Captain James T said:
The button on the VTS tag. (The small card that you take with you when you go out in the car). It has a small button on it to turn it on and off..... Hold it down five seconds and the small red LED will then flash every few seconds to show that it's activated. The car then recognises that the VTS card is present in the car and the 'Pint of Peroni' symbol should go out. The same thing happened on mine and a confused call to my OPC managed to sort it out
Thanks Captain, the penny had dropped last night as I logged off that it was the tracker tag, I never noticed that it had a button on it before. This did the trick so thank you, shame my OPC weren't as useful but I guess it is a strange one. Special mention to Lancaster100sqd, first post in 9 months on here and he hits it first time! Great news. I'll remember this tip for when mine arrives. Now go and enjoy your car!!Hi guys,
I found this thread really helpful thanks - but not sorted yet. Saga so far... my 991 started showing the 'pint of peroni' a few days after I had my steering wheel changed (original gone, sport design added) at the OPC. It does it now every time I start the car (but that might just be coincidence as I'd not left it standing much before then).
So I read this post initially thinking it was something serious (panic!) but realise now it's just irritating. OPC has been great and offered to sort anything of course but they're an hours drive away and a wait which is tricky right now, so I thought I should just sort it with the tag in the car.
So I have two tags, one in the house and one in the arm-rest cubby box in the car, both turned on with the button and giving the slow red flash. I even changed the batteries in both of them just in case.
And I've still got the 'pint of peroni' every time I start. But it goes out after a minute or so after starting and doesn't reappear.
What am I doing wrong?
To change the steering wheel the battery got disconnected, so I'm wondering if something got reset somewhere? but that could be completely unrelated. I don't use VTS so it's supposed to be inactive anyway.
It looks like the VTS tags are not paired with the VTS module.
The dealer will need to arrange Vodaphone, or whoever the service provider is, to pair.
Another thought, is your subscription paid up to date?
Did you purchase the vehicle used - the previous owner may have transferred the credit from their part-used subscription to another vehicle.
Good luck!

Thanks for that - makes sense. I bought it used yes, but VTS is not activated as my insurer doesn't require it. So maybe you're right about the previous owner transferring the subscription to another car as I know he bought a new car after this one.
Sounds like another visit to the OPC to get it sorted after all...

No need for an OPC visit; call Vodafone Automotive, they'll take your VIN and reg to ID the car and confirm its location and tell you you don't have a subscription - once they have located and communicated with the unit they can turn the driver card alert off; it shouldn't be active without a subscription. Also ensure the immobilizer feature is off too - If the unit locks it won't start.

Update - it's not Vodafone or connectivity problem with VTS - I called them and they confirmed car VIN is not active on their VTS and SIM is disconnected, so it's entirely car related. Checked tags and new batteries are working and red led is flashing, But yellow pint of peroni still appearing - so booked into the OPC on Tuesday to get it sorted. I will report back to this thread.
thanks all and will update soon,
richard
Update:
yes it has VTS but not active as insurer doesn't require. But it's on Vodafone and is definitely in range as my Vodafone mobile works outside the car where it's parked so can't be out of range.
Anyway, went to OPC a few days ago and they confirmed it was a Vodafone configuration issue. When I called Vodafone previously the call-taker said it was all turned off. But when OPC called, they got better info and turns out it was 'partly disabled' and needed pretty much as Pope said it was in this thread. So Vodafone told OPC that it was all done and I should wait 48hrs to confirm.
Waited 72hrs, tried again and it's just the same. So another call to OPC - waiting to hear next idea.
Am thinking this is maybe a new 'stealth' sales technique by Vodafone

Problem solved!
The solution was exactly as Pope said, they need to get Vodafone to do their bit properly (which they didn't originally) and no more cupcakes!
Lesson to learn from this: don't believe what Vodafone tells you is or is not done, check everything!
Thanks for your advice guys, much appreciated
