The rear looks a bit bulky on this. As a result, the cayman hips have less emphasis...

its not what it looks like although the rear end like the boxster is ugly its the fact it will most likely will have less power, more weight than the outgoing caymanR!

Oh yes indeed! Crap wheels again but nothing new there.
Crap to the eyes but they are in fact the ultra expensive optional for Boxster Sport Techno wheel rather some recycled gubbins!

Sorry, crap in style but they look smaller than the Boxster Halfords spec numbers though.

Same size, better design would be the right choice.

How many miles have you done now by the way mate?

Still grinning like a ninny at random? I am :-)
638 miles, and its still just awesome, I just absolutely love everything about it, still going the long way to and from work every day, and idly starring at it and pressing the key just to remind myself its mine, as I genuinely still can't believe it is, I've finally met my Hero, and there's no disappointment, epic.

I reckon it will be very popular - a GT3 engined version would be awesome.

I reckon £65k for a decent spec. My OPC said there will be many £70k cars.

Which will be nicely sat at £45k at 2 years old.

I think I'll keep the GT3 thanks.
It looks a nice car but £70k? Not for me at that price.

I have a really high spec Gen2 Cayman S and if I use the Boxster config and then add about 4k for the difference to replicate what I have got will be about 68k vs 61k when i got the car I currently have in early 2010.

I like the car but the hatch really shows off the depth of the bumpers and im not sure thats a good thing.

That's close enough smile. I suppose the new car will have even more options available. like seats cooling. Ceramics would push it to well over £70k.

So what you really mean is that if you tick almost every single option you can spec. a £70k Cayman. It was always the way with Porsche but IMO it shows the point of the Cayman/Boxster completely missed.

When I ordered a Cayman it had £3k of options and there was nothing I would have added with the benefit of hindsight. http://thecarlistblog.blogspot.co.uk/2006/12/joy-o...

There isn't really anything available you can't get on the current car. Seat cooling and ceramics are available on the current model.

I suspect that the 'phone' pictures don't do the new Cayman justice. It appears to still have disguises on the lights and rear hatch, plus the federal rear bumper.

Who knows, but it could be the most exciting mainstream Porsche for a long time, which could hurt the 991.

Divergence of Cayman and Boxster is much more apparent this generation, mentioned in another thread that I saw the finished car at the factory presentation a few months ago. I have also been told that the rear of the car has been through at least two different iterations.

I liked it, but don't (visually) expect a Boxster with a roof glued on this time around.
Looking at the phone pics....seems to be a Boxster with a roof glued on!!! I see no signs of a 'Crossfire' style rear either....did you really see a finished car at the factory????

I love it...I want it....and I will spec it with those wheels too!

I reckon the camo on the rear hides an aggressive hatch which cuts in quite markedly to accentuate the rear lines, should help the back look less bulky.

I like it, just need to wait 18 months or so before i get one!

I did say there are at least two iterations of the rear. The car I saw had the edges of the rear hatch sweep down to the corners of the number plate recess which is still there. My best guess is that that version of the rear accomodates the fixed rear spoiler variants.

I did ponder at the time how a moveable spoiler could be incorporated into that, looks like the basic variants just copy the boxster.
