Thinking of a short shifter on my 2010 997.

Any thoughts on that or shift kit recommendations?

Thank You smile

I tried one on a Cayman loaner from the OPC a couple of years ago. I REALLY enjoyed it. Makes the car extremely responsive... As long as you don't mind wrestling it into gear when cold.

That reminds me to look into it for my 997...

I love it on mine.....

No slack, nice and direct, only a slightly notchy when cold (but I guess most 997 boxes are anyway).

Agreed, the official short shift option is excellent. But a bit difficult when cold to select 1st.

Might do this to mine. smile

Anyone know how much an OPC charge to supply and fit this?
What is the partcode of the required part as I suspect it is easy to do yourself too?

About £450 fitted

Great bit of kit, had it retro fitted on my Cayman and the Spyder has it, neither have been hard to get into 1st.

Great mod.

The one to go for is the 997.2 gt3, part number 997 424 010 91. It costs just less than 300gbp and is an easy fit. Once everything is nicely warmed up its like a bolt action rifle. I fitted it to my 996.2 GT3.

Go for it......

Will this fit in a 997.1 C2S?

I have B&M short shifter fitted to my 987, transforms the car, slightly notch but in a nice kind of bolt action rifle way, they are also adjustable in just how taught you can make the gear lever travel.

Makes it a pleasure to change gear at speed.

Had my local OPC fit one on my old 997 Turbo, improved the change, well worth it.......

I beleive so, as i understand it the GT3 version is not as short as the offical 997 short shifter but has metal bushings rather than plastic

I'm stilling weighing the two myself

anyone have any experience with the design 911 ones?

They still have plastic bushes but they are encased in aluminium.

I fitted a Porsche Shop one to my brother's 996 C4 about 20k miles ago. It improved the long and relatively sloppy throw no end and, as mentioned above, is more like a bolt action rifle!

I'm ordering one tomorrow for my C4S as I think I'll appreciate the improved feel from the shift.

I had the OEM short shift (997 424 983 00) fitted to my 997 C2S and it felt very short, but was a nice action and I liked it. However, I do prefer the GT3 short shift (997 424 010 91).

As far as I know it fits all 996 / 997.

Very positive shift and not too short. Like I said I felt the standard 997 short shift was too short.

I know what you mean, I had the chance of driving a speced up Cayman R for the day and that had the short shift. Didn't like it. It was just to short for my liking. Could have done with a little more throw. No idea what the standard is like as I haven't tried one, but for me the SS was a no no.
