Chris is clearly excellent in both his craft and as a business man. It's a very good idea to use him if you don't really understand what geo is about or if you have a limited grasp of car dynamics. I get that impression by realising that people drive their Porsche without checking the tyre pressure or by reading stuff like "within Porsche recommendation" as Porsche's geo range is quite wide and you can have many set ups within that range, that may or may not suit a particular driving style so being within factory tolerance is quite meaningless. There are too many outfits that have the right equipment but very low standards and CG trades on that, which is fair enough.

But, there are many many places in the UK that are in between and may not have the customer friendliness or the patience or the rave internet reviews but that are perfect if you already know what set up you prefer and understand your neg camber from your toe out (often more local and often at a fraction of the cost). There are also many indys to replace worn out components. If you inspect a car there's always going to be suspension bits that have some wear obviously, you can't change the bushes every month.

I thought long and hard about posting this for fear of being labelled a CG 'fanboy'

But as they say on the beeb.. Other Suspension set up companies are available.

I've had my 993 for fish years now and I have loved every mile Ive ever driven in it. I loved the way it felt on the road and the limited events I've done on the circuits at Milbrook have been epic too.

One of the things that used to niggle me was that the steering wheel was never quite straight and it seemed to get worse if I was out on a long run. The car is getting on, and looking through the bills the suspension was overhauled a good few years ago so i figured I'd get it looked over by CG. Reasons for choosing CG? - Local to me, Recommendations from drivers i respect and trust.

I wont go in to the details, its all the same as before - fastidious attention to detail.

The results...

Well after spending 550 miles driving around Wales at the weekend I can say that I am over the moon with the results, the car changes direction like a startled sparrow. Mid corner adjustments can be made with total confidence.
It's possible that I could have had the same results elsewhere, and thats fine. But Chris's approach of asking questions and actually listening to what I was saying I have a Geo setup that ISNT factory, its a setting that gives me a car that I can take on A&B roads and really drive it.

So its a thumbs up from me and if you don't like it... no dramas, go where you want.

Not being funny, but why on earth would a geo alignment take all day? There's no need for a before test drive either as surely he has known settings for stability, oversteer, fast road, track etc?

Just ask the driver what kind of setup he wants, get the car up on the ramp and adjust away.
I've never used COG and have no connections to them.

I think the bottom line is COG offer set-up your cars handling which is very different to a geo alignment. Maybe the topic heading is misleading and should have been "Probably the best handling in the world".

If you're going to adjust a cars suspension you want to understand how it is current set-up which is why you take it for a test drive. That way you'll be able to better assess whether it's all working correctly and have a benchmark.

There's no point doing a geo alignment is existing parts need replacing, so if the recommendation is to replace certain parts then I'd take the advise and get it set-up.

At the end of the day you want your car to handle to the best of it's ability.

There are cheaper routes and people just need to decide what's right for them.

Not sure why there's any negativity and competitors coming on doesn't paint them in a good light (which is a shame as they have good reputations).

COG set up spider-man for me about 2 months as I did a track day and too much oversteer.

Having just come back from Dunsfold (dads day out this weekend) the car is totally transformed.

I can highly recommend them. They know there stuff

Suspension setup is a very personal thing. We don't all drive the same and we don't all want a car setup the same as the other blokes, well I don't. If your happy with who you use the carry on otherwise change.
