......... Originally bought so that I could do Sportives around the south-east but it's just not worked out the way I had hoped.
Often the way it works out. I've got some bars for my 997 (that may be exactly the same as the Cayman's) but not sure how much I'm going to use them. Will have to see, when the sun comes back next year Bennachie said:
How do 981 bars fit? There are no rails hidden sections etc?
There aren’t Porsche roof bars for the 981. They stopped support of Cayman roof bars after the 987. Odd choice given Porsche are trying to move the Cayman and 911 as lifestyle cars, not just sports cars for Sunday’s (playing to childhood James Bond fantasies with catalogue pics of skis and snow chains etc).Edited by Buggyjam on Monday 15th January 12:58
Interesting that this thread has been bumped, as I found this yesterday when researching roof bar options for my 987.
If anyone happens to have some suitable roof bars feel free to drop me a PM. Looking for a way to transport my road bike now that I've given up my sensible car with a gigantic boot!

Seasucker is the answer. (Mine is the mini bomber 2)If anyone happens to have some suitable roof bars feel free to drop me a PM. Looking for a way to transport my road bike now that I've given up my sensible car with a gigantic boot!
Hmm, that was going to be the route I went down, but they seemed pretty expensive, and I wasn't sure what the downsides were.
Now that I've got the car, I can't imagine needing a roof rack other than carrying my bike around a handful of times a year, so maybe I should have another look.
Presumably you're a fan?

I used the Thule 911 roof bars and feet on my Cayman and they were fine. Fitted perfectly. If anyone happens to have some suitable roof bars feel free to drop me a PM. Looking for a way to transport my road bike now that I've given up my sensible car with a gigantic boot!

Some great pics on here
Seasuckers seem a great idea, especially for cars without roof rack points, and useful that you can shift them between cars.
One downside which didn't work for me is you can't lock them to the car and so if you need to leave the bike it's an issue.
And you can't put a Christmas tree on them hahah

I only use mine maybe a dozen times a year, but on a couple of different cars. They are fitted in a few minutes and removed in seconds. As has been pointed out, they’re not the most secure of devices and can’t really be left unattended in say service station car parks for any length of time. That said there is a locking devide available which slots over the glass and is trapped when the window is closed. They are surprisingly rigid and B road blasts are still possible. I thought they were cheap, especially when compared to the porsche roof bars and bike carrier!

Having priced up the whole set, by the time I get a bike carrier too you are right, these are a good option. I managed to pick a new one up on ebay for a decent price, so will have to test it out over the next couple of weeks! They are surprisingly rigid and B road blasts are still possible.
