PCM SAT NAV PROBLEM
Discussion
Ive currently got the same issue on my 987.1 cayman (pcm2.1)
I know that pressing and holding 1, 4 & 8 on the number pad resets the pcm, but this appears to make no difference in my case.
This issue seems to come and go every few weeks, and just seems to rectify itself after a few days.

........ leave it off for a couple of minutes and then reconnect.
If you prefer not to do this, you could try a PCM reboot by holding down 1, 4 and 8 on the keypad at the same time. That'll reboot it, but worth trying as a potential quick fix. If it doesn't work, then try disconnecting the battery.mankey said:

It's a 997.2 it doesn't have a keypad on PCM 3I had this problem in a MINI. The GPS antenna was in one of those little shark-fins on the roof, and over-enthusiastic car-washing or extreme weather events had breached the seal, corroding the connection and creating an intermittent problem such as you describe. I seemed to spend most of my time driving in the busiest sea-lane in the world, as opposed to the dullest motorway in the world, if the satnav was to be believed. Problem was fixed under warranty. I've no idea where the antenna is in your car, but checking the wiring connections would probably be a sensible troubleshooting step.

Had this on my 987.2
I had to unplug & replug the sat nav antenna connection.
Mine was above the pollen filter (next to the battery) and required a small mirror to gain access (I couldn't see otherwise).
The trick was to unplug the correct cable as next to it was the radio connection connector.
Resetting pcm, removing the pcm fuse, etc. etc. did not work for me, the cable did.
Never been so happy to see the sat nav spring to life, I was already imagining a loss of several ££££ come resale time.
No problems since, do not know what triggered it either, connector was normally pushed in, not like it became disconnected or anything.
If you check your info screen it will report 0 satellites for the gps until you reconnect the cable that is.

I think you will find that the radio ant is in the windscreen. Does the system give you an indication of GPS signal strength because aerial failure is what it looks like. The aerial is a 1" sq plastic thingy usually mounted on the centre dash, or under the front skuttle, it may have become dislodged.
GPS Antenna is in the scuttle panel along with the GSM phone antenna (the grey plastic under the screen) as previous poster said, they are on the passenger side above the pollen filter housing - radio antennas are in the screen.
Pound to a penny o'pig shi# the screen guys have busted off the blue Fakra connector housing from the antenna when they removed the scuttle..........
Not seen many like that............

not done in cambridge, think that could have been the last time i used satnav. rang opc colchester yesterday and the first thing they asked is if i had the screen replaced - they also instructed me not to disconnect battery because that might cause other system issues within the car. will probably take it to opc next week (any excuse for a walk around the showroom!)

This thread inspired me to sort this out last night.I had to unplug & replug the sat nav antenna connection.

My gps antenna was connected when i checked it, but it was very loose (able to spin freely). I disconnected it from the underside of the plastic scuttle (all by feel), pushed the outer connector grips closer together and reconnected. Bingo! It has started to work again.
