Sorry Robbo 66 I realise its you who too has it figured out. No.10 is of use mainly to the OPC as the letter of intent is something they can wave around if another less worthy in their eyes potential purchaser wants to know why one person got the car rather than another. If they have a letter of intent on file from say two years before they can use that if they want to to justify your selection. Or bin it if they don`t want you. So you are right its no use if you don`t for fill all the other criteria but it has some use in certain circumstances.
GR, with only minimal halo cars available per OPC (below 5) the LOI serves no purpose. Why sell to the guy they've never heard of, and likely never see again, when they could sell to a local client who has history with them over the model range and is willing to share the 'overs' ?. Again, I understand that. Difficult for guys out of the network trying to get one, but it's business. Blame Germany restricting supply, not the OPC.
They will always have 5 + 'loyal' clients that meet this criteria, and who want a car.
With the minimal numbers available, a 2 year LOI is simply filed under 'last option'.

From my own experience one of the most important points is the need for the OPC to sell within its own designated territory. If they do not the importer will decide that said dealer is receiving too many cars and more than likely reduce their future allocation. Given then that you have some history of buying vehicles from said dealer and are a buoyant service customer will also go in your favour. Living in Bristol and trying to buy a Ltd run car from say Scotland means that you will have little or no chance of success. Why should the dealer make a sale and never see the customer again.
I was so fortunate to be able buy a GT3 . Points in my favour were , I was within territory, I had an Aston to go in p.ex ( Porsche would treat that as a captive sale). Plus I was a guaranteed service customer. The fact that the dealership had only been open a very few weeks also meant that they did not have a bank of customers. Luck was on my side! I have already been back for an oil and filter change which makes a point in itself. The people that go into dealerships banging on and being rather unpleasant to sales staff demanding vehicles have in my opinion no chance of succeeding in buying a halo car. Letters of intent mean nothing other than an interest has been raised. Deposits are not a guarantee of success when the points that I have raised come into play.

In my opinion Porsche's marketing strategy is brilliant! It works and will continue to work, hence their substantial profit which will keep the company at the very top of the game. Remember you cannot please all the people all the time , those that you do aren't half pleased. I for one would not imagine buying another brand.

While I am waxing lyrical ; Ten out of ten To Dick Lovett's Tewksbury in every respect.

Not me. I will be using mine mainly for track use and I think the cage looks pretty good as well.

Are you a road use man?
Lots of road and track use. Having a cage in the back makes travelling two up very awkward for us. Not bothered if it was a £10k hit on value, but anymore than that...

Cage is handy for hanging all her clothes etc, just get the folding buckets to make it a bit easier to access the back.

I was of the same opinion, but in retrospect could/should have gone Clubsport and then removed the cage to be refitted as and when required,

Because of the weird US laws we are not able to order the CS option here. I tried to get the welded mounts installed so I could later install a cage if I wanted but no go.

That's a good idea. The only problem is then the lack of harnesses.

Aren't they easily to fit when the cage is installed?!

I'm confused - Why would you want harnesses but no cage?!

Applications for paint to sample has just been approved. In the UK this applies to all cars from September onwards. Which I think is probably all if not most of our slots. I cannot say for anywhere else.
