Just tried the drop down on mine just now, the options appear to be as follows from the top down:

3D view on/off
Traffic hazards on/off
Quick view of entire route
What looks like a highlighter at direction changes (it draws a dotted ring around turns you need to make)
A short cut to the map of the destination

I was using the "With Guidance" view.

Hope this helps.
Helps a lot, thank you.

I had mine done last week at OPC Solihull for the offer price of £149 too.

I tried using my home postcode as the test, which seemed to work fine, but did take a long time to get a fix.

I have only used the car once since, but it does seem to be taking ages to acquire the actual location of where you are.

One other strange thing I noticed when I collected the car, was that the sat nav though we were in the middle of the ocean in the canaries?

I could not find the setting which allows you to set what country you are in.

I also could not find the option to choose to have a sim access protocol mobile phone over a hands free protocol option, which was mentioned that it might be included in the upgrade.

I can see I am going to take mine back to OPC Solihull to get it checked out!

I noticed that it doesn't give you an option to select. However, if a SIM card is inserted into the slot, then it will default to using the sim even if you had an active Bluetooth connection. So inserting the sim acts as the 'switch' whereas before my sim slot was just deactivated.

Do cars delivered 2014 come with the PCM fully updated, or must this be done by the OPC?

Thanks

Ah very good it see, that makes sense then.

Sadly as all the mobiles I now use, have micro sims, there will be no easy way to pop them. Out of the iPhone and into the slot!

I am sure there are converters available,,but I don't really want to keep taking my sim out of my iPhone 5!

Also I am not on Vodafone, as I believe they are one of the few providers who allow dual sims!

Oh well!

Jutst a quick update on the sat nav upgrade.

I had a trip to take from Solihull to an unknown location in Wokingham Berkshire, so I needed to use sat nav in my 997.

The same problem as when I first collected it after the update.

So I dropped into Solihull OPC, and they found that it had developed a fault, which they diagnosed as a GPS antenna fault.

So it s going back in a again next week to rectify the fault.

Still seems funny that it defaults to the canaries as a location though!

Just had mine done, and would say it's a worthwhile update based on what I've seen so far.

I spent a couple of days with a new 991 C2 while the car was in getting the upgrade alongside MOT and some other bits, and couldn't help thinking the level of phone integration among other things was much improved, at times thinking "that's nice, wish mine did that" not fully expecting to get all features - and that's been added by the upgrade. Just being able to view messages on screen, when you stop rather than on the handset is a bonus.

Just need to see if the OPC can upgrade the gearbox now, as the loan car has convinced me that PDK is the way to go!! biggrin

As much as I hate the damn things, it's a Blackberry 9900 which seems to use the Sim Access Profile.

I had tried a PAYG SIM in the slot previously, but found out the unit had likely been soft-coded to disable the slot - wondering if that's back as an option though??

I wish they'd open up rSAP in iOS, if only to be able to use the car's antenna. I'm sure it'd make a difference to the (IME) crappy reception and call quality in the P car.

Hi there, I'm a newbie to the forum and this is my first post. I have a 987 Gen 2 Boxster and I had the sat nav upgrade today at OPC Portsmouth. I haven't really had a chance to try many things yet, but the 7 digit postcode search now works, but the maps, zoom functions, etc looked exactly the same as before. Hope I haven't been stiffed, as so far not overly impressed with service received from Portsmouth.

Funboxster, I had mined done at Portsmouth OPC as well as using them to fit my tyres bought from Black Circles. But I still prefer to take it to Guildford for the service and oil changes.
The upgrade for me, 2011 Cayman S, was really for the post code so I wasn't disappointing when everything else looked the same!

I've just bought a used car from an OPC - 2010 model with pcm3. Should the nav have been upgraded or am I expected to pay for that myself?

If you didn't haggle that into the deal, I would be surprised if they did the update for you now foc!

Then again....
