Squealing brakes on a 996

Have you cooked the pads ata any time? Possible build up on the pads. Usual course is to warm them up, give them brakes a good hammering and if that doesn't work time to go off to the garage.

Daz's advice good. Do the brakes judder a bit too? If so you may have deposited pad material on the discs in an uneven layer. As I understand it the way to get rid of this is to warm them gently, then give them a real pounding (which should get the deposit off), then cool them off completely making sure the pads aren't touching the discs. Process may need to be repeated a few times.
Again - as I understand it - the cooling should be the sort of no brakes used at all cool down laps you do on track.
Sounds like a track day might be in order!
But you should consider getting some professional advice...
Could be brake dust build up,,I don't know if you have had the car for a while before it made the noise or have recently fitted new pads?
When you fit the 996 pads there are anti sqeal pads that stick on to the back of the pads, these locate in the caliper pistons to stop the pad from moving about under braking and squaling...maybe you don't have these fitted?
A lot of track drivers with uprated pads don't fit these as the harder compound makes a noise anyway.
about 7 quid for a caliper (4 pads) takes 10-15 mins to fit.
Is your site anywhere near Iguana?
