but then it wont work with the 475bhp GT3 engine...like wise the GT3 Mapp will be a waste in the RS..not the same BHP for one
It will work, just look at other dual clutch gearbox cars like the big fat Nissan, 480hp 2009model now they've 550 with different gearbox settings and you can upgrade the gearbox software on the old model to the same as the new one! NIgt3 said:

No it wont, apart from the mapping the ratios are different, along with other points.....but you will just have to wait to find out....APOLO1 said:
I am most grateful for Steve taking to time to explain the 6RS, clearly when set up, it is a great car
The thing is, Apolo, it isn't hard to set up. It definitely doesn't need a king's ransom to make it handle - in fact a few quid at my local tyre fitter on their alignment machine every couple of months is all it takes. I hope you didn't use an OPC. IME, they are clueless. The Porsche 996 RS ex-factory was a superb ROAD/track car. Look at it's competitor at the time from Ferrari Challenge Stradale http://www.topgear.com/uk/videos/light-fight and it offers equal performance but Ferrari wanted a lot more dosh! £50,000 extra. Both lapped the Top Gear circuit in 1 min 22.3 seconds.
Parr Motorsport invested quite a lot of time into the car. Steve, Tim Chandler and myself also worked closely with Paul Robe and the team at Parr. Steve Rance was kind enough to let me drive his car at Spa and it drove beautifully. Loads of mechanical grip and a great confidence builder. I have driven faster cars but none gave the satisfaction and feedback that Steves car offered. Tims car was taken to extremis and although I drove it, again at Spa, on slicks it may have been quicker but nowhere near the driving pleasure of Steves. So to add complication to the debate it depends on what you are looking for. I enjoy track days and drive at a reasonable pace and it's fun. If you just have to be the fastest person on track things have moved on. The 996 RS is now trading at £100,000 - £120,000 so there are people out there who think it is worthy.

I took this pic a few years ago , and the really interesting thing is the car on the right. THis was the only Targa eve built to a full RS spec, and was done for the wife of Roger Penske. Fully documented, complete with the ducktail. I have a pic of it somewhere. Pic taken at the Porsche Parade near Chicago a few years ago…
