I think I remember someone asking if Clive would build him one, how much etc.

Probably constituted advertising although I think it should be clear that Clive is NOT advertising here and hasn't used these threads for any commercial venture!

He has to be 5,000+ miles away!?!

It would be a shame if one couldn't post a great project on PH anymore because it MIGHT look like advertising.

However... I may have 2+2=5 and be totally wrong here.

Why is this thread buried in the Porsche sub forum? This is probably the most epic thread on PH but I have no interest in Porsches usually. There ought to be a build thread sub forum IMO.

I like to think I'm reasonably handy in a workshop but this has properly blown me away. Hat's off to you sir.

Blimey....when you see the crazy prices some Porkas go for that is an absolute steal. I'd be tempted to get it road registered if I had the dosh!

Interesting Photo....... "Some say" there might be a Dauer body with our name on it.... more news once it's confirmed... wink

HI all things have changed abit in the last year. The 962 was sold by the owner he was made an offer he could not refuse, it left me alittle empty as I never got to take molds off it before it left. But that’s life when you don’t own the project I suppose. So I’ve been looking for another 962 body ever since. The Daura project looked lovely but the price was basically over my head. Then 2 days ago this exciting project turner up, it has tons of info and drawings etc for the original car all from a aircraft tech that willing to help me get the car finished aswell. Deposit paid just a long road trip to go pick it up.... more info later

Good to get an update. It must be soul destroying to put all that work in and not get a chance to finish it. I don’t suppose you’ll be starting another project for that guy any time soon.
So basically you’re going to start over from scratch now? It looks like this project is a monocoque? So none of your original work can be carried over?
Is this one going to be for you?

Interesting update, Clive!

Shame the original one was sold... but this just got potentially even more interesting!

Lots of updates, please!

Bugger. Thought it was overly quiet. House and workshop must be finished by now!!!

I suspect Clive will be looking at starting from scratch with a new chassis utilising everything he has learned from the last one. It is the body he needed as he had not taken any moulds of the previous one!

At least this one will belong to him.

st happens in life, and it is how you deal with it that sorts the men from the boys. Clive is obviously regrouping and moving things forward. smile

I still think he could be running his own business building 'one-off' specials with his talents. Whether Canada is the place to do it, I have not idea.

New Build Thread?

No still friends with the owner of the original 962. Was never my car, and my house move did put at least a 12 month hold on the project. So understandable if your offered more money for the project that you have into it...

The Ally Tub will now be very like the original, but behind the bulkhead will all depend on the engine Trans combo I use for this one. Would love to use another Porsche motor, but the cost might be the killer to that one. A 996 Turbo engine and trans would be a nice combo but a more common V8 might be the way to go to help fund the project this time... The engine to be honest could be almost anything ( seeing as the length isn't really and issue ), the transaxle is the thing that denotes weather the rear suspension will be bolted to the box or will have to be self supporting... Either can be engineered. Anybody hears of a cheap Racing transaxle going let me now, old Xtrac or hewland doesn't need to be a High HP version.
Anyway end of the month I should be picking it up..

There is a quaife sequential transaxle out of a radical sr8 for sale on race cars direct, complete with audi v8 and adaptor plate.

Sorry to hear you didn't get to finish the last one this and Traveller' s F40LM restoration were probably my 2 favourite internet threads. Looking forward to v2.0 but fwiw and imo it absolutely needs to have a Porsche engine!
