The rear spoiler needs to work with the rest of the styling and I have little doubt that Porsche will get that right. A stupid ironing board spoiler will always look dumb if the rest of the car doesn't have the right stance and aero package; however, when part of a cohesive, and functional, aero pack it makes sense.
Not long now... I do hope we don't end up with the half effort that the Cayman R was. It would seem Porsche have learned a lesson from that semi damp squib.

Lets say the GT4 has a 3.8 engine with circa 385HP, weight is somewhere between 1300kg and 1350kg, X73 suspension, buckets, 6 pot front brakes, 4 pot rears, the front bumper like the test mule and the rear wing like the yellow car. Would that get you to the dealership or would you stay home?
Nice power-to-weight ratio but I'm not sure what to make of the 9A1 3.8, nethermind de-tuned. I think a lot of us hope Porsche are going to re-invent the 6GT3 but also worry it's going to be a GTS++. I want it to fill my garage full of smoke when i start her up, sound like a bag of spanners, feel AND sound like a race car, smash the splitter to bits trying to park it, stall it when racing a Transit van off the lights, point me towards hedges at every road camber,....Whatever Porsche do, it'll sell out. And i'll probably buy one anyway. Then i'll sell it at a 50% profit and buy one of them quick Carrera's your Gran can drive every day. 991 GT3

I think you've just described a Merc Sprinter.Scooty100 said:
So Slippy whats the ideal spec people want do you think as a minimum ?
All tongue in cheek (ish) Brakes : six pot 360mm narrow anulus steel fronts or massively overspecced PCCBs (390+mm) that will take sustained track use (see later note on traction control)
Steering rack : Hydraulic 996 GT3 (run it with a 997 Cup car electric pump to save weight ....)
Clubsport Spec :
CS Seats :
(or Recaro equivalent).
(A bit like the E46 M3 CSL with Cups, you'd have to sign a disclaimer stating your prepared to use it despite the lack of airbags/safety equipment) That should rule the Yanks out If they really want one, they'd have to sign an additional waiver stating they, their spouse, their spouse's cat, their spouse's cat's litigator etc etc won't sue in the event they break a nail or indeed die whilst driving, tracking, racing or polishing a CS spec car.
Clubsport gets proper cage/harnesses and M3 CSL esque carbon interior door trims, lightweigh dash, Boxster Spyder/Cayman R esque lightweight wheels, Akrapovic exhaust, lightweight glass, makrolon rear screen, carbon bonnet and engine cover.
Aircon is no cost option. Lightweight battery. Passive dampers (option to upgrade from non-adjustable Bilsteins to some factory developed 2 way adjustables). Adjustable LCA's ...... proper diff, no electronic traction control nonsense, car would be supplied with road going front splitter and integrated rear spoiler, but could be supplied with an optional aero pack with chav looking (but very functional) rear spoiler and deeper (track biased) front splitter.
Clubsport can't be specced with anything poncy option wise (AKA Soft Southerner Spec) any requests for contrast stitching, you lose your option to buy a CS. Period. "If you want SSS, you ain't buying a Clubsport" © Andreas Preuninger.........
Gearbox : Manual or PDK (PDK would get brutal change speeds that wouldn't trash the drivetrain and wouldn't void your warranty) manual would get single mass flywheel.
Engine : "Standard (Comfort/SSS/numpty spec) 3.8 360hp 991 hand me down with PDK only. Optional CS engine would be very, very revvy 3.6 wet sump lump producing 415hp (best make it a Mezger, Gen 1 997 GT3 but with DFi) and charge for the privilege imo. Available with manual or PDK. Part of the CS spec with "proper" engine would be some decent data logging that showed all the engine parameters and accurate over rev logs .......
A "properly" specified Clubsport GT4 would cost you £110-120k, a basic Comfort GT4 £75k. The 991 GT3 would have no replacement. From hereon it would be GT3 RS or GT4.
Well you did ask ......

My deposit is paid - 3rd on the list at OPC Glasgow.
I've been given the following info from an extremely reliable source who I believe has actually driven or been driven in a pre-production car (although they won't confirm or deny this to me for sure).
- Car will be manual only initially as PDK-s doesn't currently fit, but PDK-s will become available further down the line.
- Engine will be 3.8 litre with approx. 390 bhp.
In terms of the wheels, I think it's highly unlikely the design seen on the prototype cars will make it to production. The same wheels were used on the 991 GT3 test cars but have never been made available.
