EVO video review by Richard Meaden with yet more superlatives.
Was swaying between White and Guards. This has convinced me which way to go. Stunning.

superlatives? anyone else notice the body language of both meaden and harris, maybe it was late in the day and they were tired or something but both look a bit bored and sound like they are reading from a script! Was swaying between White and Guards. This has convinced me which way to go. Stunning.

YESTERDAY AT GENEVA
Hopefully the Golf R400 is close to a reality. The concept was one of the best looking cars at Geneva, combining an aggressive stance with elegant minimalism and beautifully resolved detailing.

Getting back on topic, the GT4 show car had a centre marker on the steering wheel which is normal reserved for RS variants. I don't think I've seen this on any other pictures. Can anyone explain this or is it possible this was a remnant of something Porsche tried on the car, like the door handle straps, but dismissed.
On that point, the 991 RS has colour coded door pulls, stitching i.e lava or "silver" ( not sure about red - although were always red previously) - and then you have yellow centre marker on the steering wheel. Why not have all in the same colour?I specifically asked about the RS stripe on the steering wheel and he confirmed it was always in yellow on the GT4 but was only included if you specify the stitching in contrasting colour package. (ie yellow or red).

Not easy to drive fast and deliver a cohesive lengthy continuous monologue and Meaden's pretty laid back.Is it me or all the reviews a little blasé a? When the gts came out all of a sudden it was the best thing since "sliced bread"!!
Did the gts with x73 spoil the surprise a little? It's almost as if everyone was so excited in the wait for the gt4 & how good it would be, now they've driven it, it's just what everyone expected ?
There doesn't seem to be quite the jumping up & down.

I read that, it was pretty good.http://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/first-drives/...
Pete Stout when he writes for Panorama should have something more insightful as well. He has already downloaded a lot of his thoughts on RL.

I'm going to have to stop reading this thread....it doesn't help when you have potentially a year to wait for a car.
I have waited over a year already :-) and doubt I,ll see mine till August then winters here. The advantage you have is your car will prob go up £20k so get to buy a GT4 for £50k when you get one and they might let you pts a GT4 by then, just think how cool a Mexico blue, viper green or RS Orange GT4 will look.
Imo you have secured the best model of the GT3 so a year in that's sounds ok to me. :-)

The idea of Viper Green is keeping me happy - would look ace with the yellow callipers of a PCCB equipped car.

Meaden could be driving a laferrari at 200mph with scarlet Johannsen in the passenger seat giving him a gobble and he would look like that.turbofreeFLAT6 said:
The Telegraph review:

4 out 5 stars? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/cars/porsche/cayman/gt4...
Taking price into account, expected 5 out of 5

It "seems" to me, from reading reviews, is that the only real dissapointment with it, is the engine?
Perhaps they would have done the GT badge more justice, if they had squeezed the ponies out of a 3.4 by upping the revs?
Who knows or cares, it has already sold out?
The engine disappointment if you can call it that, is surely only in comparison to the GT3 engine ?? Perhaps they would have done the GT badge more justice, if they had squeezed the ponies out of a 3.4 by upping the revs?

I imagine still a pretty good engine in the scheme of things.
Interesting that Porsche only showed the GT4, GT3RS and 918 Spyder at Geneva.
I wasn't sure about the colour of the lighting --- the GT3RS looked a strange shade and the Yellow GT4 possibly a little "acid".
But for me there wasn't a car to compare with the GT4 at it's price.
But this was a big surprise !!
