£70-75k?
What's the deal with deposits? If you've placed one and don't like the final spec of the car can you simply cancel and have your money returned?
you place a deposit when the spec is released, that keeps your slot. As we all know from the OPC's that's now early FebWhat's the deal with deposits? If you've placed one and don't like the final spec of the car can you simply cancel and have your money returned?
So nothing to return as you will know the spec of the car.
When you order a car you pay 10% of the full end price with options.
No one should have parted with money, even though we know some have !!!
you can always get your 3k slot deposit back and I am sure the people behind you will be very happy.

So either a letter of intent or a £3k deposit now, £7k-ish deposit in feb & the balance on delivery?
Sounds reasonable to me, though it does make you think how well priced the previous generation specials were compared to nowadays.
Have they started doing factory collections again yet?

Yes, i left a 3k deposit and got a basic order form receipt back in the spring. My OPC already had one other deposit and an LOI so he recommended the deposit as a way to ensure i wasn't disappointed. It's fully refundable if i don't like the spec (ie PDK with deviated stitching)...What's the deal with deposits? 3k deposit in Feb when the spec is released which keeps you on the list.
balance of the 10% when you place the order/personal spec.

I've not written a letter of intent before, will an email to the salesman do? This car is looking too good to ignore.
It's a shame that this will go a bit like the 991 GT3 regarding ownership.only a few cars and OPC's have 3x too many names down already.
You needed your name down 6 months ago.
Or become best mates with "Scott mulcahy" if he wants to keep his GT3 :-)
No one will back out now, all you will get is slot selling over list esp if Porsche are saying "A proper drivers car"

Are you sure about that though mrD? I'm not saying this is the case but a dozen or so posters on an obscure car forum does not a sold out car make! It's not exactly in your dealers interest to claim there are loads available either is it? Neither is a LOI a solid sale....
I'm in the canaries at present but I have sent off an email so I await their response, but should the GT4 prove unavailable the much rumored gen2 spyder may have to suffice.

I tried the "Letter of intent" route with Glasgow OPC. They want £5000 deposit upfront now!!!.
Newcastle OPC have my letter of intent #1 in the queue.
I gave a 3k deposit about 3 months ago,I learned from my mistake with the gt3 ,totally refundable if I do not like the spec when it is announced,so why do they want 5k?Newcastle OPC have my letter of intent #1 in the queue.

I think the answer from me is : 'Probably'.
From the mule photos its going to look similar to the techart Cayman, with less tacky wheels. To me it looks like a modern re-interpretation of a Gt2.
That sure is a lovely looking car but as we all know there is a long time to go.
Still obviously lots of variables and unknowns at this stage which makes the thread interesting.
So my thinking is mines worth 70k next year vs a gt4 at the same cash? may not be a bad trade if demand means it will hold its value and that way im into a new car.
Im not fussed weather its turbo or NA just has to have a noise that competes with the gt3......Interesting times ahead

I spoke to the supplying dealer on my 991 GT3 and got LOI accepted straight away last week. Number 3 in queue (I think)
Why would one assume this will be oversubscribed? Looks like its using standard parts? That's not to say it wont be a great car but from all the speculation looks to have no low volume specific parts.
I don't think they want another 991 GT3 issue so if you order one I reckon you will get one.
I don't work for VAG so all of this is pure speculation. But so are all the other comments!
Personally 400hp, manual, light weight and 70k would be awesome. I fear it will be nearer 90k and heavy and 375. Exige is very good at 1100 kg, 350hp and 60k! Might be made of plastic in Norfolk but didn't need a recall to have the engine changed.
