Battery operated mtrack device is £480 with 1st year subscription included and the next 2 years half price at £60 if I recall correctly. Remote alarming key also included in this offer. Won't invalidate the warranty and is thatcham category 7 approved. smile

Brill mate thanks! I'll have to have look at that nearer the time then.

Without sounding a numptie - i take it the mtrack / thatcham 7 is recognised and accepted by all insurers who require a 'tracker'?

From experience of looking into them 7 is pointless in most cases as far as insures will be concerned as its is actually the lowest thatcham category for a tracker I think. Over £75k allot insist on Cat 5.

From some of the research I've done these guys seem pretty good - http://www.mtrackonline.co.uk/home.html

My insurer said they were fine and didn't ask anything about the thatcham category. I just can't bring myself to pay over 1k for the porsche one plus their high subscription charges when there are so many other better trackers on the market which are cheaper but the problem is if they are wired then it invalidates warranty, hence me now considering the mtrack product. Porsche club GB do some stuff with them as well because of this reason.

Does anyone know of any other battery operated products with a higher thatcham category?

Can anyone tell me what the current charges are for a GT4 to be put 'on the road' in the UK - eg new car/first year tax, plates etc: Thanks.

No all the battery powered ones I found were cat 7 only - due to the nature of batter only don't believe they can get certification for anything higher than that :-(

Take it from me - if your car is stolen you don't want it back.

Agree a value £74,999 max (say) and buy GAP insurance.

Still not sure been ummming and ahhhing.

Don't normally bother but if my list price is £77k I want to get an agreed value of circa £90k as I expect that's what it will cost to buy another in similar spec so have to have one.

I see you can actually get the Vodafone Cobra track 5 (the same as PVTS) for £699 - £799 fitted instead of paying Porsche £1k. (Could possibly use as bargaining tool to get that reduced).

Then come extended warranty time not have any issues as its 'Porsche approved' so I may do that. Looking at reviews all the cat 5 trackers seem to have mixed ones. Also most now seem to have yearly subs with no lifetime option available.

I'm struggling to find an insurer who will quote me on a policy without one as the car value is 80k. The cheapest quote I've had so far is £1600 pa (I'm 27 btw)

Also, are people telling their insurance companies the car is worth roughly 10k over what you paid for it as the market value?

That's a great price for a car of this value/performance. Which insurer/broker is that with?
