back to the gt4,are some on here actually driving theirs?or just talking as if they still have one? the weather looks good for the weekend so hoping to get some more miles on mine then give it its first clean ,those scoops love to suck up the dirt but the platinum wheels are much better for keeping clean than the black ones on my old spyder.

I sit here in the office and yearn to drive mine. In fact I walk out the front of my warehouse/offices about 10 times a day just to get a glimpse of the car. Am obsessed with it at the moment.

Dude, hes going to dodge you and not answer, bit like when he was offering people to take out his CR, i put my hand up saying yes please and ignored it.

Or he will come back with some other leading question. Just dont feed the troll and harmony will be resumed

buy what you want, the cars fetch overs so spec what you would like on the car. !!

who specs new cars for resale ?? esp cars which fetch overs !!! FFS

This resale crap is doing my head in on here atm, what's wrong with people !!!
I think this was a legitimate post - I wanted to get some understanding of people's views in relation to re sale - it's not a crime and FWIW , I always spec based on what I like , however it's nice to know what others think. I was trying to understand why in the 991 GT3 market they seem to carry a premium , but this doesn't seem to be the case with the 4 and I wondered why .
I realise you didn't say this specifically in your response but , for the record : I have never flipped a car , not that I'd care if others did - that's up to them - I value my relationship with my dealer and wouldn't want to put this at risk - I just buy them , drive them , polish them and love them a little too much . I don't want to be party to some of the responses that you received , but I just don't understand why you upset people , go off line , re emerge and then repeat - surely a leave of absence allows you to come back with a new approach to stem the abuse that your posts seem to attract - I know I wouldn't like it - You obviously have a degree of technical knowledge , why not share this instead ? Anyway , I genuinely wish you the best .

P.S Whilst I'm at it - anyone got any thoughts on Chrono - waste of money or a must if you are going for a clubbie ? (Genuine question) smile

Ian, that sounds lovely..... I'm so glad someone on this forum has had the balls to take the leap to start doing some mods.... Really excited to see if you get real gains with this set up please post the dyno runs before and after!

Spoken to Fabspeed and 450bhp isn't that hard, got pipe, race header, filter and re-map plus dyno work.., I'm keeping the car and want to use and enjoy it ! Just did the cannon run, was epic..

Well, I like ceramics.

Cost :On my CR I wore a set out in 34,000 miles of very spirited driving including many track days, and a refurbished set of four discs cost me £4000 fitted with new pads .... probably the same as the multiple sets of steels that I would have required.

Performance : The advantages of Ceramics have been well described, and I think they do enhance agility, enabling the suspension to work better and fading less.

Whether or not they are for you, is your choice.

I did choose ceramics. I would again.

If the same number of second owners want ceramics as wanted them new, then they should bring a reasonable premium ... but still only a percentage of the original extra cost !

Looks excellent. Just checked out the Fabspeed site and it looks to be around $9,300 all in - exhaust, headers, remap, plenum and filter. Not bad at all for more than 15% increase, if it all adds up. As everything in the USA is larger than in Europe I hope it doesn't apply to hp gains.

What are people's views on ceramics vs. Steels - not from a performance perspective - more from a re sale perspective - is the perceived wisdom that , all things being equal , they are a positive if the car is a road car and a negative if the car is being bought to track (due to associated costs)

Do you think ceramics will increase or decrease the likelihood of sale on an average miles car come re sale ?

Cheers smile

I specced steels on my GT4, so cant comment on performance or saleability of the PCCBs, however, I previously owned 2 991 GT3s, both CS spec. The first one had steels, the seconds one had ceramics. I preferred the way the PCCB car drove, had a much better braking feel in my opinion. Now this is hardly scientific (as they were different colours, and sold at different times), but come resale time, the PCCB car sold much quicker than the steel braked car - make of that what you will..!

In my opinion, the GT4 is adequately braked on steels....but if just part of you wants PCCBs, get them, you'll only regret it otherwise..!

For a road car I really like the ceramics, but I'm just not convinced on having them for track use, I therefore went with steels on my GT4 as I'd like to do a few track days with it. I drove both the GT4 and GT3 RS at PEC both with ceramics, and both felt disappointing to me with poor feel and bite etc, nothing like my previous ceramic non track use cars. This wasn't unexpected to be honest due to my own previous experience with using ceramics on one car I did do a couple of track days with.
So to answer your original query I think you've probably summed it up quite well, I know I would probably avoid a ceramic car that had been used on track, at least without a pretty thorough check of the disks and pads.
As much as I really do like the ceramics, I don't regret not getting them on my GT4 even though I could have afforded them.
But each to their own, I just happen to subscribe to the steels for track & ceramics for road view.

Thanks for comments on Steels vs. PCCB's - interesting how many different points of view there are - my problem is I just think they look amazing - I realise this is heracy and I should be justifying based on technical capabilities - but in truth I'm not a good enough driver to notice and as such I would choose for aesthetics alone - there I've said it - it's out there - no going back now - Sorry everyone frown

One last question - Sports chrome on a clubbie - a must or a waste of time ? Thoughts on a postcard ....... smile

A must I would say on a clubbie, part and parcel IMO. Watch out for any seatbelt clash with the harnesses as well, I had yellow interior but couldn't bring myself to go with yellow seatbelts and red harnesses, but that's only me.

Granted that is another option if you're not happy with red.

On my car I quite liked the red harnesses with the red calipers.

Of course that would make sense. I meant if you have yellow callipers/interior

Yes totally agree on that, I think the black harnesses have yellow stitching and logos so would look really cool with yellow interior and callipers.

I think in some ways it's a bit sad this colour coding etc on what is primarily a great drivers car, but at the end of the day why not, it's nice to finish it off just how you like it.
