996 Classic insurance
Discussion
Mines on multi car with Aviva, can’t remember the premium but it’s not a lot. I’ve found the “specialist” insurers with the 996 to be expensive. One of the advantages of the multi car policy is that I can use the 996 as I would a “normal” car for commuting etc without falling foul of the small print.

Ouch! We just had our third renewal with Admiral multicar (996 C4, BMW e36 323 touring and a Focus ST 2.5) and it came back at £595 for the lot. Of that I think £195 was the 996. Oddly they were cheaper last year than the original policy and this year it's cheaper again.
I like what you're suggesting here I basically need to ditch the Forester and get an E36 and Focus ST? I'd been thinking of changing but I hadn't had a good excuse 'till now, and that's a pretty sound financial reason To the classifieds!! Dragging up an old thread...
i've just bought myself a 996 c4s so i'm looking for insurance.
I got a quote through classicline which was ~£400 for limited 3000 miles and only sdp which I thought was a bit pricey, using go compare I could get it for about £200 for £5000 miles (slightly higher excess) , 5k miles from classicline was £550 odd
I was wondering
A) is it worth paying more for insurance through someone like classicline vs someone like Aviva
B) are there any other brokers/ specialists that people would recommend? I've used Lancaster for my z3 for the last couple of years but since Covid trying to actually get through to someone for a quote seems pretty impossible.
Just looking for suggestions really, thanks in advance

Have a look at Churchill on a normal policy. For my 996 I get business use rather than pure social, on street parking and build no claims bonus. Living in Bromley, it was cheaper than a classic policy which wouldn’t give me the ability to drive to a meeting on a sunny day and insist on it being in the garage overnight. Then there was a pleasant surprise when I checked market value after buying the policy. I had my Boxster with them as well and a similar experience.
For years I used Manning for my 997 Turbo, always good price (C. £500), agreed value, Track days, European cover etc, great to deal with people who are not just reading a script. So much so that I never shopped around. However, when I changed to a (non standard) C4S, the quote jumped to £750 ish (No track cover). I can only attribute the increase being due to the modifications (though it is still a lot slower and worth half the price of the turbo). I then tried ClassicLine (£1300) and others that were more. I am back with Manning. Man maths has convinced me that my VED saving is paying for the extra cost of insurance!

Thanks i think that I will have a look at some of the more mainstream companies.
I guess that the 996 isn't seen as quite a classic yet, maybe too many people still using them as dailies for the classic profile.
My 2002 996 C2 is with Footman James as a classic (both of my NCB's are on 2 other cars) 6000 miles, agreed value £20K @ £320.I guess that the 996 isn't seen as quite a classic yet, maybe too many people still using them as dailies for the classic profile.

Just done an online quote with FJ c4s, 5k miles, agreed value £25k £607, guessing it doesn't like something, probably being parked on the drive or something.shantybeater said:

Locked garage makes a difference, I remember them saying that to meI guess next time i'll take a tape measure!
Me being in Switzerland, this might not help the ones living on the island, but maybe others on the continent/Switzerland.
I have my 997 on an agreed value classic insurance since I bought it 4 years ago. My broker put it on my existing policy (Volvo P1800) with no hesitation. Regular use and mileage (10k miles p.a.) was a non issue.

Mine is on the drive, could be location (I'm in Somerset and age (64))Mannigs come in more expensive than Fj
I guess there are too many factors for it to work for a classic policy, maybe in a couple more years.
