Look si-dick you tossed out the insults first
I've not made any personal insults towards you. And you still preserve with the deliberate mis-quoting of my name yo try and be 'funny' - how dull.

so don't cry because you made a poor Porsche choice and jumped into the 991 GT3 due to all the hype, we all make mistakes, even I did but I was lucky to come to the conclusion I F'ed up and was able to upgrade before I had to live with it....

Some people like chocolate and some people like really superior vanilla....

Did I tell ya that a 290whp Lotus will smoke a GT3 on track ?
You've not driven the GT3 on track (and neither have I) - regardless, it's about enjoyment not lap times and the car is primarily a road car (for me).

I really dig my 991Turbo S and my RS211 Lotus...but I'm not a track guy and could care less about lap times or rules..
So why the pointless comment above?!

Enjoy your GT3 and keep an eye on those miles ya never know when you might wanna upgrade and trade in values are subjective to abuse...just sayin

Ahh the 90*f sunshine was delightful today in the Santa Monica Mountains with A/C flowing through the seat backs.....
I will. As before, the obsession with trade-in values appears to be from those who don't own the cars in the first place...

The personal insults are getting tiresome and uncalled for fella, It'll lead to the thread being locked. Agree to disagree and move on.

So disappointing when someone can't justify their own position and instead repeatedly resorts to personal insults.

Excellent - good work, well done. You must be very proud.

I couldn't care less what he says, but it's very telling that you're keen to defend him / attack me rather than discuss the issues!

It would seem to be more apt to accuse him of being the 'baby' given his decision to indulge in name calling rather than logical discussion..,

I think you either have to accept that he's come onto this forum to genuinely discuss his thoughts on the 991 Turbo v GT3 debate or he is purely here to troll about how an Elise is better than a GT3 and to boast about his (admittedly very special) tuned Elise-based project car.

Given his refusal to discuss the former then it must be the latter, so no idea why you would choose to defend him?

Indeed, which is why the interesting thing (and possibly a key point of Internet forums) is for people to share experiences and explain why they like one thing over another.

I'm sure you'd be able to justify what you like more about the GT3 (and no doubt you could also acknowledge areas where the Turbo is better) and your friend likewise.

For some reason the OP is unwilling to do so, which questions his reason for starting the thread....

Is a 991 Turbo S faster round a track than a 991 GT3?
On the same class of tyre, very likely yes around most tracks. The turbo s shares all the tech that the gt3 has to make it quick (torque vectoring, rws etc), has 4wd and much more torque. It's quite porky though but the gt3 is hardly lightweight either I suppose....

Isn't the power to weight ratio very close (and surely that's what is relevant on a track, not torque?) and the (10%+ ??) lighter weight will be beneficial under braking.

If you guys had spent any time around the lotus forums over the years you'd know that Frank is a wind-up merchant. You're falling for it hook line and sinker.

There is a respected magazine called "Total 911"! The Porsche magazine. The cover is emblazoned with the title. "GT3 vs Turbo, Time to choose". May I tactfully suggest that all you people intent on arguing about the 2 cars go and buy a copy and read what the mag has to say. My intention was to quote sections of the article though I can't be bothered to to type it all out. The conclusion they draw between the 2 cars is. Quote " Performance rivals they may be, but the GT3 and Turbo remain- thankfully- two very unique supercars within the 911 model range. One of them alone doesn't tick every box as the ultimate Porsche 911 and as long as that's the case , it looks like we won't need to be choosing between one or the other for a long time yet".

Something else that no one has mentioned are recorded lap times by Fastlaps . com of the Nordschleife. aka 'The Green Hell"! Length 20.832 KMS. 73 Turns.

991 GT3 7.25mins
991 Turbo S 7.26mins

So 1 second splits the 2 cars over 20 odd Km's which is determined on a road which is also a race track!

Therefore can we now draw a line under this somewhat futile discussion.?

Ronin, if you cannot obtain this magazine I will mail you a copy! smile

Does he resort to insulting people rather than discussing the issues on that forum too??

Unfortunately yes. He's been banned, un-banned, and re-banned from various Lotus forums over the years. Don't let him bend you out of shape.
