Suspect if I'd waited another 2 months I could have sold it for slightly more than I paid for it! Of course, most of what I'd like to replace it with seem to have enjoyed similar growth.
I paid £40k for mine in 2009.No doubt it would be worth close to that now.
But, I've no regrets as I've enjoyed a few other cars since, which wouldn't have been possible without selling the turbo.

The other X50 car had only just had the engine out a few weeks prior to sort an oil leak.

I can guarantee you a lot of turbo owners are driving around with various oil leaks they won't even know about unless the engine is taken out. My 964 turbo had 42k miles on it and I spent 3k on a clutch and to fix oil leaks and it still leaked. The specialist "a reputable one" basically said it would need a full re-build to cure all leaks and I'd be looking at mega-mular suffice to say I put up with the weeping engine. My 930 Turbo was the same slight weep here and there.
To summarise my 996 turbo has got space ship mileage on it and not a drop in sight and nothing showed on the PPI, as pointed out earlier lower mile cars can cost far more than sorted high mile ones and I'm talking from experience

I agree, it's the same with most cars to be fair, coming from a TVR owning history it's much the same with them. It wont ever stop the low mileage cars being far more expensive than the high milers. Dramatically so the lower the mileage (55-60k for a 10-20k 996tt for example).
Of course, the downside of potential mechanical niggles is counter balanced by a far more pristine set of paint/trim/interior/chassis/etc...
Mines going to be a bit of a garage queen, cant see me doing more than 3000 miles a year to be honest. regular use, enough to get it fully warmed up and a bit of a blast but not long distance use.
I'll still have the TVR which will need a leg stretching too!
New remote control roller door went in on the garage yesterday, it's a bit cool!
Side door and window next week, and new roof at the end of the month. Will make it nice and homely for the little Porsche when it arrives!ILoveMondeo said:

When I got my then 5 year old 993 C4 a gasket perished pi$$ing oil all over engine.These things happen. Using a car is the best thing for it, garage queens end up with niggles due to not being used.
Get out and drive them!
Well all the work is complete, along with a replaced cam actuator too (I think that's what is was)..
Should be getting detailed today.
Going for a final test drive, payment and collection tomorrow morning first thing!
Bit excited now!

Its gonna be a long sleepless night tonight then !!! It happened to me when I bought my GT3, The night before was hell, Just could not sleep through excitement, was up at 6am all ready to go collect, trouble is I wasn't picking it up till 10.30 and it was only an hours drive.
One of the best hours of my life driving it home tho.
