Chris - very interested to see how you get on with the sicom discs as I'm currently wondering whether to get a different car with ceramics and replacement costs of the rotors are something playing on my mind a bit. cheers.
The proof of the pudding is in the eating as they say! The SICOM refurbished discs are just as good as OEM on the track and on the road. The material is somewhat denser so they'll last longer too.
Think of it this way -
Porsche will charge circa £14,000 for a replacement set of 4 Carbon Ceramic Brake discs. SICOM will refurbish ALL four of your existing CERAMIC brake to matching OEM specification for roughly £4,000. The £10,000 you save can get you a tidy Porsche 996, an E46 M3 or one hell of a holiday!

Replied! Thanks for the query

is that for a new set? or you have to send in your old ones in exchange?
what about just getting a new set while re-furbing the old ones
It's the exchange price --- my old discs with bells will be credited Euro 500 each once received and checked for structural integrity ...what about just getting a new set while re-furbing the old ones

Cost --- Euro 3340 + vat and £1000 for a new set of pads with fitting, all organised by Dave F. at Strasse.
For clarity - those costs are for NEW SICOM PCCB fabricated discs for Front axel only right Chris? (Not refurb'ed)Schermerhorn you're quoting £4,000 for all four discs REFURBISHED approximately is that correct? Plus assumed £2,000 for new pads which are obligatory with newly refurb'd discs?
Bit of positive feedback for you Schermerhorn:
Like the simplicity of the visual comparison - spot on.
Just a small correction on the text below the image:
"The world's leading company *for* Carbon Ceramic Brake Disc refurbishment"
The rest is all fine, maybe rethink capitalisation, but can understand it's easier to read :-)

I blame OEM manufacturers for that really, sort of misleading product information and then customers get absolutely shafted when it comes to disc replacement costs too.
Fortunately, the SICOM solution is a great one and saves thousands. Just waiting for someone with a Veyron to ring up now
I've just come across this thread, as I have been looking into the replacement costs for my PCCB's as and when the time comes.
When speaking to the OPC about the replacement cost, I have been quoted the following:
Front (Per Disc) 380mm - £ 3200.00 + VAT
Rear (Per Disc) 355mm - £ 2800.00 + VAT
I do have a few friends in the trade, who should be able to get a discount on parts but thats only around 10%. Then you have fitting and pads which aren't too badly priced.
I've emailed Sicom about the process and look forward to recieving a reply.

I believe we have just refurbished a set for a gentleman called Bill from Michigan, USA.
I didn't deal with him as I only do the UK customers and some media/marketing work but from all accounts he was a very happy man and saved an absolute fortune over OPC prices.

No --- this is the cost of a full set of refurbed Cayman R discs.Schermerhorn you're quoting £4,000 for all four discs REFURBISHED approximately is that correct? Plus assumed £2,000 for new pads which are obligatory with newly refurb'd discs?
The cost of the full set refurbed, including all taxes with fitting and new pads was a little over £3500 ...

Oh wow.... that's pretty good! I love the feel of the PCCB's but I was getting a bit nervous for as and when they are needed to be replaced this means I no longer need to worry about it should that time arrive. In Chris' case it was like this
SICOM already had a refburbished set of Cayman R brake discs in stock so we could dispatch them to him more or less straight away.
The Cayman R discs also fit other 911 models I believe, so had Chris approached us with a 997 911 model with PCCB's with a compatibility match to what was already on the shelf, it would have been the same for that scenario also.
Chris was charged then £1000 as a deposit for his old ones so we could keep them to refurbish plus the prepayment and deposit (totalling 50%)
Because we had them already in stock, the waiting time was significantly reduced.
Before dispatch, Chris was asked to pay the outstanding remainder of the balance. We then dispatched the already refurbished set out to Chris plus the pads.
When Chris sends his old discs back to us he'll be refunded his deposit.
Unless Wolfgang has changed the procedure, I believe this is how the transaction was conducted and how we have done it for the past few months. Chris will elaborate or confirm.
In short, if we already have a refurbished set in stock we'll just to the exchange like described in the above procedure which will cut down waiting times significantly. In the end, the amount of money exchanged is exactly the same but waiting times will be different.
Hope this helps you guys

Are the PCCB which are fitted to the Cayman GTS the same as the ones on the Cayman R / 991/997 911?

Only other question I have now is: can a standard OEM Porsche PCCB pad be used in conjunction with a refurbished SICOM disc?
Many thanks once again, and welcome for the edit tip, the Ad looks great.
That was pretty much it .
Remember that these are very early days and I had to be a little patient.
But, I'm only waiting for the end of the German summer holidays to return my original CR discs for credit of the deposit, and then there will be a full refurbed set for somebody ...
Based on this, I re-specified PCCB's on my new GT4 ... and I adore PCCB's for the improvement in tyre contact at speed and particularly in the wet.
Plus their endurance capabilities and the lack of brake dust and the better turn-in and ...
This is in my view, a GAME CHANGER --- for anybody who expects their car to deliver without it costing too much.
I never factored in £14k for a new set of brakes --- how lucky am I ?
It took me 34,000 miles to wear them out ...
