A little of topic. What is Brunters like compared to RAF Woodbridge. Longer run to the beam. Longer braking area
Woodbridge has a 1.7mile useable straight, the rest of the tarmacked surface on the airfield is less than ideal; or it was at least when I use to organise events there. From memory Brunters is a little shorter on the main straight and they are also a little more anal regarding noise (I was once told off for being above the limit once), but all the former taxiways are in pretty good order and I think they even have the odd trackday there so not all straight line stuff.

Thanks Mark. Missed both this 964 C2 and this G50 3.2 Carrera when they were for sale for even less than that a few time around 2006 / 2007

You still need shooting for selling that 2.2S smile
Tell me about it. But it helped get my daughter on the property ladder, so not all bad.

Thank you for your insight CLR.
drmark. As you say it served a purpose. No point crying over spilt milk and none of us have a crystal ball. I know of two chaps that sold there 993GT2's for what was perceived as bloody good money back in 2009. Both cars are worth probably six times what they sold for now. C'est la vie smile

Neither of them are any good compared to Elvington tbh, much better surface and nothing parked up at the end to run into ie trucks and cars at brunters.

Anyone contemplating a top speed day should go to one of the straightliners events this yr at Elvington. They allow cars on the bike days too. Fun watching jack Frost doing 247mph on his turbo hyuabusa:-)

Sold within a few days by 911V. Remarkable how quickly the team there sell 911s. Bought blind down the telephone based on 911v's description.

They also recently had a 16k mile 997.1 turbo. Sold for £72000!!! I didn't pay all that much more for a brand new 997.1 turbo back in 2006!

Commiserations probably a better word. Have no-one to look after them whilst I'm overseas apart from you Jez smile

Scooting west to OPC Swindon every year to service the 964 C2 is also becoming a bit of a chore as shes been serviced by her supplying dealer Dick Lovett all of her life which is a double edged sword. Swindon had us over a barrel for the major service at £1200 inc tappets. OPC Cambridge were willing to do the same work for £750 but had no other choice but to send to OPC Swindon if I wanted to keep her unique history which stuck in my throat a bit.

I bought them both to use and wanted to put some modern Ohlins suspension on the 964 C2 but in reality even the 68,000 mile 3.2 Carrera Sport is too nice to use when I see how few rust free and mostly original paint cars there are out there let alone modding a time warp 964 C2 of which I doubt there are many 30,000 mile UK supplied RHD examples left. On some of the 3.2 Carreras I've looked at as a reference over the past few months the full resprays on cars priced at circa £70k would be sent back if that standard of work had been done on any of my cars including my old Polo!

It was a pleasure to let you have them and happy for you to do a review of the 9e fettled turbo so you stop swiping at modern turbos!

I'll volunteer to drive over from St.Albans and exercise your 964 C2 if you like IMI A. wink

I think I'd prefer Jaz servicing my car than an OPC, even if it changed the history, but someone will love the fact it's only even been to OPC Swindon.

You're right Steve Winter knows his aircooled. The original owner who ordered this 964 C2 was completely in love with his car. He only used to use it in the Summer and used the supplying dealer Swindon to service the car as you're aware. Every time he wanted something carried out by them he'd send them a fax and they'd write back to him as he was based in Europe six months a year. To say this fellow was fastidious is a massive understatement. When he passed away a close friend bought the car and used to flatbed it to Swindon every year for servicing as he lived hundred of miles away. We're only temporary custodians of these amazing cars and for whatever sentimental or emotional reason I thought it would be an insult to the original owner's memory and the way he looked after his pride and joy if I moved the servicing anywhere else. All 5 owners of the car felt the same as me (one owner after him was his wife then after that his best friend).

No. But I probably need shooting for not updating you chaps on RSR 763H life. Fear not, it remains in fine fettle in every sense and regularly gives it's cammy best! To be continued, soon.....

IMI A. I completely empathise with the custodian of the vehicle thing. I am not so sure that many do or would understand. They would probably think we are nuts biggrin

I bought the blue 89 Targa 911V had up previously. I'm itching to get out and drive it but won't use it if it's even remotely damp. It will be a dry weather car only.

Oh it will be driven, just prefer to do my mileage in the dry.
I find it quite bizarre that some owners do just a few hundred miles a year. I do that every week during Summer.

I reckon it will be gone by tomorrow. Beautiful. What a find for someone.
I do understand the no salt and wet thing. I have two P'cars at the moment that can never see the salt and hopefully the wet. A 73S and a later car but both are absolutely like brand new. Inside outside and underneath. Hence as the current custodian of these vehicles I have to maintain them as they have been maintained before.
