There is a serious point here though in that spending a ton of money on having your car detailed and sealed using something like Gtechniq counts for jack st if you continue to wash it that way smile

Basically you'd do better spending £30 on some decent wash media and buckets before considering anything else.
I know , I was joking smile

I have used C1 with the C2v3 top up. I did it myself and if you enjoy waxing/detailing I didn't like it. But for the other half's car and the dd once done just top up each wash 6 or 8 weeks with the c2v3 which takes 5 minutes after drying and the protection coul last potentially forever? So if you are someone who ventures to the dark side of detailing world now and again Gtechniq could be too good and keep you away from your addiction.

Hi guys, my name is francis and I'm a Gtechniq authorised detailer and will be happy to answer any questions. if you've had your car detailed at paintshield prior to having film installed, chances are that was me.

Anyway, what has been said in a previous reply by croccodrilllo is pretty much correct. C1 and exo are sealants that anyone can buy, but even that will change in the near future. Crystal serum is a authorised detailer only applied sealant, which is the hardest wearing sealant out there right now. Platinum is only available in dealerships that have signed up to gtechniq.

C1- very good sealant, easy to apply and offers good scratch resistance and water beading.

Exo - This product is designed to add gloss and a high level of water repellency, however, it doesn't really have much in the way of scratch resistance.

Crystal serum - This offers the best in terms of chemical and scratch resistance. it is detailer applied because it is very easy to get things wrong while applying it and any missed spots will either have to be machined or sanded off.

Platinum - This brings the gap between serum and C1. Its not as scratch resistance as serum, but its more forgiving to apply, like C1, so its easier for valuators in dealerships to apply. It will also be available to detailers soon too.

For the lazy amongst you, there is a product called wet coat, which is by a company called gyeon. With this, you simply spray it on the car while its wet after having washed it and rinsed it and blast it off with the pressure washer. You just dry it off and you have a good moth of protection without having to do anything.

As for modesta, i was one of the first people in the uk to try it and while it is a good sealant, its not as good as serum. Its pretty much along the lines of platinum i would say. This used to be available to anyone, but it is only available to a few authorised guys now and for some reason, one of them is charging thousands to put it on the car, which is just ripping people off. Anyway...

If anyone ever needs any advice, just drop me an email. Also, when people say they have had their car treated with Gtechniq or people offer it, check what is going on the car, as there are a few different products and price ranges.

Its also worth saying that i wouldn't put any of the sealants on my car unless it had been machine polished first, even brand new cars. Ive just spent 20+ hours detailing a brand new 991 gt3 rs before the sealant went on. The last thing you want is to seal the defects in the paint.

Thanks for this great info - one question , if my main motivation isn't scratch resistance and beading , but high high gloss , showroom , lux finish which would you recommend - the car will be a fair weather only garage kept , washed as much as driven pampered thing , cheers smile

If that's what you're after then I would probably say a couple of coats of Exo or even platinum. The paint will have to be machine polished properly first though, otherwise it doesn't matter what you put on, as it will always be the icing on the cake to a good paint finish.

My CGTS is a little over a year old with 5k on the clock. I was quoted £750 for the full detail (minus engine bay) which I thought was a bit steep??

Having said that I'm keen to have it done, any recommendations for North Essex?
I've already recommended Extreme Detailing to you and given you his number on CS smile
