You are welcome to have a ride in mine if it helps. It's very low (RS -20mm) so will give you an idea from an extreme end of the set up spectrum. No bump steer issues, it's absolutely fine on the road but i would understand why some would find it too much

Steve,
Wow that looks low!
Without asking a stupid question - is that just because its purely a track focused set up ?
I recently purchased Boxey's white 964 (think you might know the car) that I'm going to tweak a tiny bit. track slag only, maybe i'll follow you on set up .

No its a road/track set up. I think if you do a search on the build thread, all of the set up details are on the thread

Agreed. With modern (passive) damping, differential and tyres it would be a lovely thing to buy new

Steve , Ras will PM you when I'm back in UK. Many thanks. A ride is fine as its totally different from the drivers seat. I find when driving you don't really notice the bumps having had bit of seat time in a 7GT2 which is firmly sprung. Its the passenger having his/her fillings falling out which is the issue for me hehe

Good to know. Always wanted one but struggled to lean on the 930 I had for a month. May have just been me!

Very good post.

In this whole self-inflicted sh*tstorm, I hold out the faint hope that we may pull ourselves back from the brink and that possibly, just possibly we may even turn this into a win, although a very stressful one! I'd settle for Parliament coming to their senses and voting not to repeal the 1972 European Communities Act thus keeping us in. But, in an ideal world.....

A second referendum is clearly off the cards, I don't think anyone, even Leavers who won, think it's a good idea to let the public near a decision this complex ever again. But, if we have a new PM who is willing to put the act to repeal the 1972 European Communities Act in front of parliament, along with

1) some genuine concession from the EU on sovereignty/immigration as a show of good faith
2) a direction for MPs to show leadership and to vote for what is in the best interests of their constituents, not what is necessarily popular
3) legislation that ensures that the net "over contribution" we get from immigrants is transparently given to local government (or similar) to directly affect change in the poorest areas of the country, it could be to fund infrastructure, provide a local rebate for personal tax, whatever.

(1) I think would satisfy a lot of Leavers, I seem to remember hearing over and over again that if only DC had got *something* real rather than a fudge during his negotiations a lot of people would have been happy to Remain. Now that the fact we are actually on the way out has sunk in to the EU, they might be willing to do themselves a favour and make a concession to pull us back in. Maybe even look at the reform they've been talking about in the last few months as the concept of Brexit has been discussed.

As for (2), frankly MPs should be doing this anyway, something this serious should not be a popularity contest - if you know Leaving the EU will end up as a massive act of self harm for the people whose interests you're supposed to look after, you shouldn't be voting for it and if they bin you at the next election, that's tough. You're there to do the right thing not the easy thing.

(3) would help to ensure that those who feel left behind do see direct benefits and reap the rewards that free movement is giving our country. Our money goes to the EU to help poorer areas there, and in return migrants who come here are able to directly be seen to be helping our areas in need.

Anyway, maybe it's a bit of a pipe dream, but it feels good thinking about it smile

I was firmly in the remain camp, but looking at the way the likes of Tusk and Junter are behaving , I can see why there might be some benefit to getting out from their club
There is no reflection at all the the European commission might have a problem, no desire to change.
Only focus is on making the UK pay for their disobedience.

There was a dutch journo on the beeb last night explaining how euro law prevents Holland from calling a referendum, they need to pass a law first, or something similar- ridiculous!

We are in for a painful, uncertain few years, but maybe the 10 year outlook- ie for our kids- is better out than in?

How we get there- haven't a clue- but dare i say it , nor does anyone else!

Agreed, that is the most appealing 964 I have ever seen. Love those wheels on it too.

I bet they would not be able to sell other new models!

Real experience, a few years ago at one of the London OPC, waiting for my major service to be done and one of the sales team was actually finalizing a deal with a new buyer (middle-age, looked like first to porsche, might be non-dom!). They showed him out from the service area, where they were also fixing couple of 964s, the customer stopped and started asking questions about 964 and said if its possible to buy them instead and bla bla.. It was funny to see sales-person's worrying reaction to be honest, I think if the guy had stayed there a few more minutes he would have changed his mind, the moment you compare new 991 to earliest options, even the non-enthusiasts questioning their value judgement. (He also said, wow how come this is so tiny and great! biggrin)

Again I'm not bashing new 911 or 718.. They are great modern cars, reflecting our time yes some new features have been gained with them but also some important porsche features has been lost.

Just the way the door opens on a 964 has me cooing. When you start the thing my God the deep sound of its torquey air cooled lump is intoxicating - one of the few old bangers that feels like it everyone of its claimed power output of 250 horses. There's just no contest IMO with anything from the modern water-cooled era. Its so much more modern than older air-cooled too. You never feel short changed driving around in one. Such a ruggedness and feel of quality to the way its built. Amazing how its gone from being the 911 no-one wanted to the sweet spot of 911s for many.

Looks very nice Steve. Are you happy with the ride on 18"'s. Tony your Turbo 11 will ride much better on the 18"'s. Glad you kept it. You still got the SV. Now that is a contradiction that leads me onto.
I find this whole situation completely laughable. The one thing that the brexit vote has proved is that we have a completely incompetent government in place. The labour party is falling apart as they have a dead fish at the helm. The other not so dead fish is selling her arse in an attempt to gain a back door deal with the EU. Michael Gove will back Boris as long as his missus is happy with a secured deal of self interest (what a surprise) and in writing. That won't be worth the paper it is printed on. I believe Boris has already promised at least three people the chancellor of the exchequers job. I would like to have a drink with Boris and shake his hand. But I would be sure to count my fingers afterwards. The EU is run by a bunch of arrogant bigots who have no idea of what is happening in the real world. Nig is good but has no idea when to back off.
So as all this lunacy is completely out of our control. Let us concentrate on the important things in life. Will my 65 car be ready for testing by the end of July. If you had a chunk of cash in what vehicle would you invest it in. Anyone know of a mint 2.2S for sensible money. 0.5% interest is really the best I could do. Are there really aliens in outer space.

Here speaks a Chap who is generally only interested in the driving experience - but the character of the 964 gets under your skin and adds something quite substantially tangible to the experience. Probably the best road car (for my requirements) i've ever owned. In my league of favourite ever 911's it sits just behind the 996RS. Praise indeed

JZM have an unregistered 964 Turbo Leichtbau (59 miles) at £800K... bubble seems pretty big on that one.
