Very good car the 2wd GTS-PDK. Felt more night&day to a regular 991 C2S than the 997 GTS did to a 997 C2S. Still not sure it's *special* enough as a weekend toy but as a daily (if you're looking for a new car with a £100k budget) it would be hard not to give it a home. Would like to try it in manual - now the box has been improved.

STOP posting these pictures. Or it will cost me £50k when I upgrade. Thanks you

I do believe you're taking my opinions out of context....being amused by an auto blip 'gimmick' does not make me desire to have an autonomous self driving car...! I've already said that the PDK gearbox wouldn't suit the GT4, for similar reasons that a manual gearbox wouldn't suit a 991 GT3 - both these cars have the right powertrain in my opinion

Porsche Exclusive are only making 5 for Porsche OPC Mayfair as a homage to the Targa
only made 5, and still 1 available ...
The good news is it's got Florio on the side not Mayfair so you won't be thinking of pubic hair every time you get in it.

The best bit about it is the wheels...they're nicer than the 911 50th ones.

That looks ace but I wouldn't park a 100k car on a council estate.
That there Sir is all the Porsche you'll ever need and to my mind one of if not the best looking sportscars you'll ever see understated yet purposeful.....there's certainly no Chintz about that....well done that man

Sadly wasn't mine - borrowed for 2 days whilst my car was in OPC for warranty work. I was hugely impressed with how well it looked though - great stance, just enough aero/spoilers without being too ott, lovely colour (Agate), best cabin I've sat in for a long time, very quick, and handling was phenomenal for how well/compliant it rode. In the last 5 years i've gone full circle - from manual to auto and now looking forward to getting back into a manual. Very much could see myself in a GTS when/if i get bored of the GT4. Bargain - starting at £90k!

I've just gone from a 991 GTS 2 PDK coupe into a GT4....Trust me, the GT4 is great, and you would not want to go back into a GTS..! Where the GTS wiggles its heavy arse around under power, the GT4 stays planted...and don't listen to the scaremongers (who have yet to own one..!) complain about the GT4s gearing... wink

That's brilliant to hear - thanks!

re gearing - so much bks after bks after bks spoke about it on here that I've almost given up reading the main GT4 thread. Far too over-exaggerated / quoted. Next they'll be complaining about the understeer. Oh, hang on...

Do people really think Porsche don't know how to put a good car together?!! For 99.999999% of drivers the GT4 will be all they ever want, and some. If you're better than a GT4 then you should be racing for a living.

I'm getting excited about it. It's going to be a proper value for money car. Nothing under £135k+ gets my attention as much as the GT4 does just now. And I never really 'got' the Cayman smile

Exactly. Mr Evans has significant experience in all matters motorsport I can assure you....more than can be said for some of the pound shop Richard Meadons on here.

The thing is re the gearing (and sorry in advance to bore you..!) - you need a 1st gear ratio short enough to move off without needing to give it a bootfull of revs, and you need a 6th gear ratio to be able to do 180ish mph at Vmax, then all the other gears in between have to spaced fairly equally to keep the engine in the peak torque band after changing up. You can fiddle a little with the ratios of 2nd to 5th, but it wont really change the characteristics of the car significantly. To do this, you need to drop all 6 ratios ratios to make the car drive differently, but the downside then is that you'll be doing say 5000rpm at 80mph in 6th which is noisy and daft (see Caterham). And the other fundamental point is that a car is no more accelerative with shorter ratios - its the engine's torque and car's overall weight which governs acceleration, the gear ratio spacing just needs to keep the car within the range of peak torque (4250 to 6500 on GT4) when you change gear.

I'm sure both cars are fantastic in their own way but they are not in the same category so to compare them
directly is slightly nonsensical - the GT4 is a two seater designed primarily for the track so it is obviously going to handle better than a 991 GTS.....which has four seats and is rear engined.
For a track day I'd take the GT4 every time, for a cruise across Europe road trip or more regular use I'd take a GTS every time.....you can't do the school run and collect the kids in a GT4 (unless you have 1 kid.)

Also, I think in the looks department the 991 GTS wins....it's a 911 not a Cayman.

Precisely.....911 GTS will do the School run Tour Europe and still smash a Trackday as most drivers on Trackdays aren't capable of extracting anywhere near the maximum out of it's Chassis

Another good read. Looking forward to the 996.2 though. It's a shame mine isn't really at it's best or I'd have been interested in a Carrera vs Carrera4 comparison.

Totally agree,
the only car I drove under 150k that got me interested was the aston v12vs ,for the money the gt4 has to be up there with the nissan gtr in what you get your pennies.
