I'm going with fake. Wrong wing mirrors wink

(I believe some prototypes were for a time fitted with those mirrors, however when combined with the wheels etc, I'd suggest not)

Iirc Richie and Mark King used the same kit to build a replica back in the '80s. It came from the U.S. but they were so anal about it, it was v difficult to tell from the original. They even filled the bolt holes. Oh, and they fitted the correct mirrors. Mark was v proud of it smile

Is it based on a poor old 993 or 964? Ghastly ending

Easiest way to tell is the bottom of the doors on the A post are rounded on an original, not square cornered as a standard 911.
A small detail most will not copy in a repo.
This is because the 959 is mostly composite bodywork .

No, numerous discrepancies, including 3-piece wheels, rear deck too short, door mirrors as mentioned, air intakes at front of rear wings wrong shape, no plug for jacking point on door sill, top of A-pillar wrong shape.

Funnily enough, I do remember, when the 959 came out, reading an article about a guy who bought a then (cheap) donor car and set out to create a visually similar replica/evocation/pastiche/fake (call it what you will).

IIRC, the article was in an American title called "Fast Lane".

Fake, the air intakes by the rear arches are the wrong shape and there is no indicator in the front wing. I had a good look at a real 959 being serviced at OPC Reading last Saturday :-)
