I hate getting in and out of the 918 buckets, but they definitely add to the sense of occasion.
I was worried as I have lower back issues ,but I did 600 miles in a couple of days and had no problems whatsoever.

GT4 is way harder to get in and out due to the side storage bins, the old R and Spyder were lighter weight stripped items with no bins and you had a lot more room.

Getting in and out is ok, it's the small gap which does not allow much swing and you have to try not to kick your own door/Alcantara parts !!!

I had Topaz cover the carbon sills with PPF to prevent me accidentally scuffing them.

The absence of height adjustment on the older design folding buckets could be a problem for someone of 5 feet three inches.......they are positioned quite low in the car.

Also bear in mind the older folding buckets are a less vertical rake position than the lwbs and whilst this can be influenced slightly by under cushions on the newer seats there is no other viable adjustment..... including raising bolts which could have insurance issues etc.

The older folding buckets are narrower at the hips and wider at the shoulders compared to the newer lwbs.

As others have said the GT4 needs buckets rather than sports seats which can be more umcomfortable anyway. All other things being equal imo it is worth speccing the latest lwbs on the GT4 for an extra £450 on top of the older buckets on the basis seat heating is not required.

Its an age thing ,too low down.I used to fall out of the lambo which was not an elegant way of exiting and my desire for a Mclaren was ruined when I realised how awkward is was to get in and out.

Its not too bad when you have an empty space ot open door into, but for example in car park with a car next to you getting in and out is awkward .

Interesting thread.

I have a GT4 to spec, and would have gone for the folding buckets, but seems the 918 lwt buckets are the favoured option.

I was going to spec. 918 style buckets as the must have seats until I tried them! I would suggest anyone who is still to spec their cars should if they can try both to see what suits them better as both seats don't suit everyone and the folding buckets like the lwbs still suit the nature of the car!

I think the folding tickets look just as good, very nice items and they are slightly more comfortable with a less forward seating position. No CS pack with folding tickets though

Both are great seats...

The 918 style buckets have a lot more lacquered carbon on show than the folding buckets. If you choose carbon trim elsewhere in the cabin it goes well with that.

On the Spyder I think the folding buckets look better than the 918 style. Because you can usually see them (being a spyder), they seem less bulky around the shoulder area than the full buckets. They just look better to my eye. And definitely more comfortable.

edit...at the time I was all for full buckets on the GT4 and would spec them again just because of CS pack. They do look cool.

The folding buckets were the obvious choice for the Spyder anyhow as the lwbs cannot be heated....no good in a cab! Plus they were a no cost option same as the standard sports seats and £1k cheaper than the lwbs....really a no brainer.

AV, to change topic slightly, do you know what the memory function does on 991 Sport Buckets with Memory? I can't see any non manual adjustment on the seats so I assume the memory function adjusts mirrors and steering wheel?

Still waiting for the manual pack to arrive!!

Sorry..... I have never owned a 991 with memory seats.

Talking of 'manuels', my GT4s has only just arrived!

I'm still waiting for my manuals for the GT4. Car arrived at the dealership in early Dec, I took delivery in early Jan and still no manuals. I've chased my OPC four times on this, with no joy so far. Can't say I'm thrilled about it...

Regarding the seats for the GT4, I would say either the full buckets or just the standard sports seats. I made the former choice after testing all four seat options.

The sport seats just don't suit the character of the car at all. That was my impression after driving the black PEC car for a few hours.

I think the sport buckets are the most comfortable of the bunch.

I have the Sports Buckets in mine despite having ordered the 918 seats. Drove nearly 8 hours today and found the seat extremely comfortable.

SO despite a little disappointment at not having the seats I was expecting I am very happy with the seats I do have.

Folding buckets are now called sport buckets on the configurator.
