Sorry do you mean the folding buckets?

The seats keep changing name and price!

For clarity this screen grab was from the configurator 10th April 2016 - and I am happy with the Sports Bucket seats. I specified the Full Bucket Seat but did not get them!

I was lucky enough to spec the 918 buckets before they were removed from production (not sure if they are back on now though) and they are extremely comfortable and supportive. I don't do huge road miles in mine and for the track they are the only version to have. I'm a big laddy too (17st 5'10") so they should work well for the majority.

Anyone know if it is possible to tilt the 918 seats (raise the front so the seats effectively recline more) - maybe there are brackets available aftermarket? I feel too hunched in their stock position but they are otherwise extremely comfortable.

Just stick with it. You'll become used to it and then it'll feel natural. i agree that first few times you feel too far forward but that feeling soon goes away.

I'm 6ft 3in and I weigh 120kg (yes its fat), and I feel that the Sport Seats Plus in my Cayman S are very good and comfortable. I've not tried the regular sports seats so I can't compare, but as a 'big lad' I recommend the Sports Seats Plus.

That's what I found. Far too upright for me. And a pain to get in and out of.

Probably ideal for track work though.

I did 4k miles in mine and they were ace. You get used to the seating position after a few miles.
Getting out is also easy, just put your right hand on the sill and swing out your leg and you're done.

I have sports seats now in my 991 GTS which are excellent for every day use but with the GT4, the buckets do add another element to the weight transfer feel with the excellent cup 2's and also the look of the interior.
Just get out on some great roads and you'll soon bed yourself in.

I have the 918 seats ,and they are for me and my physique (6 foot ,12 stone )... pretty crap.Backache, leg issues .They are brilliant to look at ,a pain to get in and out of and are the reason I will be selling the car.Every time I go for a good drive I come back with backache .
It seems everyone has different experiences and just because one person finds them comfortable does not mean everyone will.

I am about the same size as you and this was my experience also, but I didn't spec them in the end - for those reasons.

As you say, they suit some people but they are not great for others.

I find the GTS suits people better and a lot of people regret buying GT cars.

Buckets etc is the whole package when buying a GT car, if that does not fit, then the GTS range is hard to beat.
You can also have PDK as well ;-)

I think a car pulling 1.5g without buckets would not be a nice place to sit and very hard work.
Hence you see GT3's on 7 owners when I last looked even for the 991! And GT4's can be see with 3 past owners already !

Not really following your logic there. The reason for so many owners in a short time is twofold.. firstly premiums ( I tired a gt3 less than ayea rold with buckets that had had 5 owners ) ,and if you venture into buying ferraris or lambos you find the same thing,4 owners in a year etc,and if what you said was correct you would find only non bucket cars for sale .
If buckets were a necessity they would be standard. If you track a lot then yes probably essential but had no issue without buckets on the gt4s and gt3s I have driven on pec days.
I think they look better and do add a sense of occasion ,but in hindsight speccing buckets was a mistake for me and I would probably not contemplate selling if I had gone for the 14 way adaptive seats.
If I am lucky enough to get a gt3 there will be no buckets on my spec list.

Have you thought of offering to swap seats with someone who has the standard or 18 way adjustable or whatever ones in theirs.

There are a few who bought flipped cars that wanted the 918 buckets but couldn't find a car with them.

They might even offer you some cash to exchange....

Just a thought.

I sold my GT4 because the 918 seats gave me back ache between my shoulder blades and also neck ache. I have the same seats in my 991 GT3 RS and they are relatively comfy - so maybe it was the angle they were installed at in the GT4.

It seems from the comments that it very much depends on the individual. The problem with completely fixed seats is that there is zero adjustment to accommodate all the different body shapes.

I loved the GT4 and the seats looked superb - but at the end of the day they are not for looking at. I would advise trying out different seats if possible before speccing. And if you have ANY sort of history of back issues (as I have) then go with maximum adjustability.

Can you not either shim the seats (if they are bottom mounted), or convert them to adjustable mounts (per any race seat) by using side mounts? You can then set the rake very easily.

I have some lower back issues and they are super comfy for me.
Everyones is different but trying them on a proper road test is the key.

Its true that the standard and 18 way seats / chairs don't give you the same feeling of being held in position like the buckets do and hence for me, detract fro the GT experience.

So, I bought a used GT4 with a touring spec, i.e the comfort options. Tried both seats in a showroom though not on the move. Didn't find the buckets that figure hugging. I'm 5'11 and 74kg was surprised how little flank/bum support they offered vs other race car buckets I've sat in and not much more than the standard seat. Obviously they look good but harder to get out of in tight spaces. So my criteria didn't insist on them when a good spec and value car (Vs both bucket and non bucket cars) popped up.

My only regret is the myriad of comments which seem to say that a GT4 without buckets is only fit for the crusher. Not on this thread but on many other discussions.

Which is kinda annoying as I feel I've missed something.

P.s will take car on couple of track days but wanted car to do road trips and blasts mainly.... perhaps should have bought a GTS rofl
