Brave man.
May I ask why? Do you have to make a conscious effort to press and hold the button every time you start it?
Nope. It just stays up all the time, so no need to press the button. I guess two things really, I think from a personal preference it looks better and the other I forget about it half the time. It's all about personal preference.

Looks like we're in the minority, to me, sports cars should have a spoiler and most of them look better for it! Same with PSE - if you want a quiet car, get a fking Prius!!!
As for that godawful 2CV, please keep it in the garage where it belongs and not on the road!
Each to their own, but I love driving and tinkering with that little car. Chris Harris seems similarly smitten with his. Mind you we are both lucky enough to have faster from of transport to use too. Variety is the spice of life. As for that godawful 2CV, please keep it in the garage where it belongs and not on the road!

OMG! What a miserable bunch of petty whingers we have in our midst. If someone prefers the spoiler up look, let them put their spoiler up for goodness sake. It's an aesthetic subjective choice as much as colour, wheels, decals whatever. Get a life.
Oops, looks like you missed the (mostly) light hearted nature of this particular thread- or maybe you're just one of those guys that likes to keep your spoiler up because it makes you a better driver??JLZ78 said:

I don't think anyone on here will criticise raising the spoiler for detailing work.
Can i add nobber behavior for saying 'detailing' when they mean washing the car?Feel free to add a w@nk cameraphone photo of your own muddled reflection in some mundane and ordinary but fairly clean body panel of said detailed vehicle.

No issues with fixed spoilers on GT cars. No issue with retractable spoilers on non-GT cars. Major issue with retractable spoilers being forced into the up position all the time and especially when parked or in traffic. Sine Metu said:
Indeed, very lighthearted. 'Major issue!' Good grief. Do some gardening or something to calm down. If people like the look they like the look, so bleeding what! The last thing the world needs is stuffy anal spoiler police.
You're one of 'them' aren't you.... Bet you put he spoiler up AND turn the PSE on in town. Do you have a GTS number plate?drmark said:

Indeed! Apologies, was angry at work earlier for some reason... Enjoy yours!

I had this discussion with a dealer principal once, regarding raised TT spoilers...
He pointed out that Plod is aware of what speed most model's spoilers rise and so if you are on the motorway (or other road!) and they see one pop up it's an indication the car is speeding. Whereas, if you enter the motorway with it already raised and get stopped, the spoiler will stay up when on the hard shoulder, rather than going down again, thus indicating you had raised it manually and it wasn't the car doing 78mph which activated it.
He surmised that many owners raise their spoiler as a habit when starting off on any trip, so as to avoid this tell-tale sign of speeding. To be clear it's the popping up which he thought the indicator, whereas an already raised spoiler might be overlooked as the Plod may assume the driver is one step ahead.
Any merit in this?
No. Thats utter bull crap. No copper watches spoilers! It is nil proof of anything. He pointed out that Plod is aware of what speed most model's spoilers rise and so if you are on the motorway (or other road!) and they see one pop up it's an indication the car is speeding. I do cringe when I see any make or model with the wing manually raised. Usually on a model at the lower end of the range for some reason....

st I've just realized I've left my GT4 wing in its erect maximum downforce mode after the Spa track day. Do I need to sprint outside and adjust it back before I get reported to the knob police
A distinct difference between a fixed (but adjustable) wing over an auto extending/retracting system that is speed based and spoils lift as opposed to provides downforce. It's like driving around with a Nurburgring sticker on your Vauxhall Astra SRi, or going to a Porsche Experience Day wearing a nomex racing suit and racing shoes.
