Out a run with a mate. Think he’s jealous

^I'm told, by those who've enjoyed them (only ever driven a 650S), the above roof air intakes on the LT McLarens make a glorious noise.

Another happy memory from a month back. The errant arm in shot is my tame racing driver. If you want instruction at the 'Ring, I can highly recommend hiring one.

Wife and I walked through there on the Friday before the GP one year and the biggest cheer any car got was a proper (old Morris) Mini convertible.

Bet the CGT was LOUD through there though?

It's a 620R (I didn't even know what it was!) - my 10 year old son got a good 20 miles of passenger ride and said the noise when the turbos were on full chat was terrifying biggrin

Sadly getting him a ride meant there was no time for me to get a ride, but it will make more impact on his young life than my old one!

My pal said it is much, much rawer than his last RS, a 991.2

I only got to drive the 650 on damp, autumn morning. My mate was moving house and his partner does not drive either of his sports cars. Her loss, my gain. He followed me in his Lotus Exige. On wet roads, I was very cautious of how much boost we got. When we arrived he said "I thoguht you'd go faster than that". hehe

In truth, I hate the responsibility of driving someone else's P&J. However, I have been a passenger on a dry day and felt how the thing goes a full chat. You forget that the number on the model designates the power. 650 is a lot. We've done a road trip to the 'Ring and on an autobahn it's daft.

Turned right down hehe In the sticks on an early morning drive it's pretty much only that or Radio 2's sounds of the 60s available so I flit between the two. Engine noise the preferred option.
