If I remember correctly that was featured on the Abandoned Engineering programme a few years ago and looked in a much sorrier state than it does now. Good to see someone has restored it and hope you enjoyed the drive to get there.

We spent a week in the mountains, it was an epic tour.

2345 miles “train to train”
Some of the best roads we’ve ever driven. - this was the first time we’ve taken our cars, in previous years we’ve flown in and just driven the wheels off whatever Avis gave us…
Taking our own cars took a bit more planning to avoid any single track roads etc..

It's a great part of the world - we have a place in the hills over towards Perpignan - but it's a bloody long way from Calais.

Brilliant. We've driven a lot around the Alps, down into Italy multiple times and all over France in various Porsches over the years but only ever been to Costa Verde and a small place called Peniscola (which I found out later was where they filmed a lot of the battle/siege scenes in El Cid with Charlton Heston) on the south coast in Spain back in the 90s when we had a 944. It sounds like I need to plan something in the Pyrenees smile

Glad you enjoyed it and more importantly in your own car.

The Alps are great (had a week there week before last), but the Pyrenees for me win. Did Spain last year drove down via La Rochelle and San Sebastian down through Spain west of Zaragoza to the coast and back up through the Pyrenees. The roads in Spain and amazing, new and virtually empty thanks to the EU! Saying that the Dolomites in May this year were spectacular too!

The Virtually empty part was the most unexpected part for me I think... there was one day where we went for literally hours without seeing anyone else on the road.

Pure bliss.

Got my car back today from an accident repair (needed a new bumper and some paint) and they polished the old headlights as well - what a difference

That's it I'm sold.

By chance we've rented a villa for a couple of weeks near Alicante in September and driving down so might have to take the scenic route. Apart from the above any other recommendations?

15 months after selling it I found it for sale and needed to scratch the 911 itch - permanently this time!
