A picture a day... Porsche
Discussion
Have to say I remain regularly surprised at just how big the modern 991s are despite their dimensions and no longer think it's a mobile camera thing. A pic from wed at Silverstone. The gt3 again looks decently larger than the silver job on the left which one really would not have expected.
Gratuitous holiday pic. #NeverBeen
(Jochen and the guys at Frozenspeed have excelled themselves this time.)
As for 991 dimensions, they really are a whole different car to the preceding 996/7 platform. Width, length, height, track, wheelbase and wheel diameters, all add up to a huge step forward in performance.

Corner speeds between the 991 and 997/996 GTs are not very different. the big advantage of the 991s is in acceleration and the 'huge step of performance' is much more from ease of accessibility of that performance (electronics) than chassis changes imo.isaldiri said:

Were they not more accomplished, Porsche would be criticised. As it is, people will (probably rightly) say a 996 GT is more engaging, but this is a moot point. That was then, this is now.

Subjectively, a 991 GT3 or RS definitely feel more planted and predictable and, therefore, accessible.

But more accessible isn't quite the same as a huge absolute step of performance. Throw equal-ish modern tyres on an older car and the modern 991s aren't actually much if any quicker around a corner. Most if not all the time is being gained on straights and that's not related to the gain in size of the cars..For what it's worth, this is not IMHO a 'bad thing'.
