End of next week for mine now. This date is supposed to be firm though.

Will mean its almost a month late :O Anyone else had a similar delay?
Is this happening ?, if so good luck, and enjoy the day

Saj
Thanks.

Sold my car to BMW today, £2k more then Porsche offered, but still £3k below private sale I let go due to the delay frown Transferred all the funds. Sorted the insurance.

So will be mighty pissed off if it doesn't happen biggrin

As an aside, the insurer wanted to know all the options and I was greeted with the following when I opened the config link:

"Due to an upcoming revision of specification, this model is not currently available for configuration as a new factory order. Please continue to use the Car Configurator to explore the model. For more information regarding availability please contact your preferred Porsche Centre."

I checked later and the same pops up for everything apart from the Hybrid. They'll probably add a whole stack of options that I want to get another £3k deposit out of me tomorrow biggrin

It's to do with the WLTP testing.

Only done 20 miles but first impressions:

1) Very happy with the driving dynamics. Reinforces my decision to go with the Cayenne. Whilst it's still a tall, heavy SUV, you almost forget that when you're flinging it about. Engine is great, transmission is great and a lot of the time it feels like you're driving a reasonable handling car rather then an SUV. Everything I wanted as my first venture outside low slung coupes.

The 40d is a great engine, but am enjoying being back in a very good petrol engine. Perhaps too much as trip was showing 15 mpg average :/

2) Exterior Aesthetics: Looks lower and wider then its predecessor. A bit more aggressive with the front spoiler and bonnet treatment. Got quite a few people doing a double take, so it must be distinguishable as otherwise whilst not common, Cayennes aren't rare around here. Last few cars have been black, so we were a bit apprehensive about white. But with the satin turbo design wheels, black pack, black rails it does look very good. Especially at night with the street lights shining off it.

I'm still in two minds about the black trim at the bottom. It makes the car look lower which is a plus. In its immaculate state it looks a lot better then i'd expected, tying in with the black/white theme. But after a few scuffs/dirt/etc i'm wondering if the same will be true. I plan to wait and see and if it doesn't hold up aesthetically i'll get it sprayed/wrapped. (Sport design going out of stock took that option out of my hands).

3) Interior is a mixed bag for me coming for the 6GC which was heavily optioned.

- Fit and finish is great.
- Standard seats are fine, I'd only opt for the 18 ways for aesthetics (I never used most of the adjustment in the BMW's comfort seats).
- The front console looks far better to my eye without the plethora of buttons and new dash design.
- I like mixture of analogue rev dial with displays either side. Large centre display is very well integrated and looks great aesthetically.
- Essentially they've fixed the major dislikes I had of the old interior and many of the minor ones. Some of it you can see they've clearly thought about, for example I have driver memory only, but the passenger handle has been designed so it doesn't need a blanking plate (you can't tell there were supposed to be buttons there).
- My wife, parents, couple of friends that have seen it all mentioned the interior space and headroom was phenomenal. I do miss the cosseting feeling of the 6GC, but must admit the practicality is phenomenal. My daughter climbs in and out of her car seat with ease and without climbing all over the seats. Loading in/out of the boot is so much easier. This was the main reason for the switch to SUV and so far think I've done the right thing.

Having covered the good, here's the not so sure/bad. (NB I miss the 2-tone interior, so perhaps that's colouring some of my initial impressions).

- The plastic covering the back of the front seats looks poor.
- The headlining material isn't as good as that on the BMW and probably not as resilient to kids messing around.
- The leather/partial leather is already forming a few creases, avoiding/minimising this (personal OCD) was one of the reasons I usually don't go soft/nappa leather, so thats disappointing. By comparison the Dakota on the 6GC looked new when I handed it over.
- The boot cover is poorly designed, already put a minor scratch on the side trim by missing the guide holes for it (i.e. when you pull it shut).
- And the standard ambient lighting is piss poor. Certainly not acceptable in this segment IMO. I'd advise coughing up the ~£250 if you drive a lot in the evening ,even if (like me) you aren't interested in the changing the colour.

4) Infotainmnet is of course a big step up. The big touch screen (finger print magnet, but you don't see them until its switched off) gives great visual feedback and makes accessing most things easy.

- Everything is very very snappy. (Thank the smartphone revolution for pushing the envelope and fabs of low power mobile processors).
- Graphically everything is a step up as well (we're seeing the dawn of the next jump in car infomatics). I've had satellite maps running the right binnacle and its been smooth and seamless, without so much as a missed frame let alone missing map data.
- Surround view is a revelation coupled with the high res display. Moreover, if the sensors detect anything close, they automatically bring it up. I've read there will be a software update where it will generate a 3D view using the sensors and camera data and allow you to select the point of view (i.e. as if you were standing on the kerb).
- Theres a RIM protection feature apparently. Since these are diamond cut alloys I hope it works well smile
- Integrated internet radio is great.

The bad:

- The setup of the account/etc is amateurish. I produce consumer and commercial software for a living, yet I found it confusing. It's an unnecessary waste of both the OPC staff and customers time. Lots of back and forth. Two different Apps, you can use PCC even if you dont have a tracker, but OPC staff think you cant.
- UI/UX work needed. Theres a lot of potential, but much of it is not yet leveraged. For example why cant I split screen the main display. Why do I need a redundant analogue speedo in the left binnacle. If I have maps in the right binnacle (I keep this there so I can see RTTI info), why cant I have alerts, fuel info, etc in the left binnacle.
- Apps are pointless for anyone with a smartphone.

I've stuck a deposit down for a Hybrid. Will have a test drive and decide wether to follow through. Alternatively depending on residuals I may get the same again so I can get HUD (the one option I really miss). In which case I'll also add ambient lighting and possibly go for two tone interior if I'm still missing it.

NB: Never under any circumstances specify soft close doors. I had them in the BMW and now i've lost the ability to close the bloody door without them. Constantly getting the warning the door is still open frown

Couple of pics, one under sun and rest under lights smile

On a side note, 48 hours in it still looks clean, a revelation coming from a black car smile

Also I asked them to remove Swissvax, but they did it anyway FOC and will send over the tub. Anyone got any good looks to aftercare after its been swissvaxed? (I'm normally one of those people that just takes it to the local hand car wash :O ).

Thanks. I'll update real world MPG in a month, but I do sod all mileage (4k/year), so will still be over a relatively short distance covered.

Also my daughter has clocked she can finish watching paw patrol if we take the car rather then walk, so she's on a go slow every morning biggrin Means I'm doing a relatively short school run which will hurt MPG.

App is currently showing 51 miles covered @ 13.6 mpg :/

Still only 100 miles in, but hopefully this is more representative:

29 miles @ average 24 mph = 25.4mpg

From near Denham to near Chessington. Mix of Motorway, A and B road. But lots of traffic, so got diverted off motorway hence average speed. Still a bit of heavy right foot.

For comparison reverse trip had a lot more traffic and I stupidly ignored the re-route at one point to get myself stuck:

25 miles @ average 11 mph = 18.3 mpg

The app logs trip data. Along with sending route to car, thats probably the only feature that i'll use.

I do feel for todays teenagers borrowing mum/dads car. Car manufacturers are making it harder and harder to lie to your parents biggrin

Burmester® 3D High-End Surround Sound System

Only done a couple of hundred miles so far, and some of the following might be during the honeymoon period.

When I got it into driving seat and started it up immediately noticed how quiet it is, its almost silent. But I nice burble of V8 when you need it !!.

The steering is so light whilst maneuvering, this will be down to Power steering + & 4 wheel steer, I think, but very nice, the turning circle is fantastic, I know this as where I park during the day is a tight left turn, I can now do this in one step.

Car is lower and looks better for it, but with no compromise on interior space, and car is a bit wider that the last, but feels much wider inside, I think this is down to a thinner central tunnel as well as the additional width.

Now the interior, that screen is fantastic, nicely designed, but the user interface is a bit hit and miss, maybe I just need to get used to it.

For my liking far to much plastic around the gearbox tunnel, have been told more options will be available after September to go further on leather extras, but that’s I bit late for me, now here’s the thing, I like the plethora of buttons on the previous central console. This new one is just a finger print magnet.

Rear seats, my previous Cayenne had 18 way seats, the new car the same although different design, the kids have informed me there is more space on the rear bench in the central seat.

Now the drive, wow its just so comfortable, previous car had “Air” so does new one but this feels a world apart, I had to come out after the a few drives to check I had 21” wheels, the front tyres are now 40s instead of 35’s on previous model, maybe this helps a bit.

Power off the chart I have never had anything so quick.

Big thanks to catfood12, went for Carbons and they are awesome.

So far well chuffed, will be doing a thorough detail over the weekend so will have a few more pics

Anyone want any advice or questions feel free to ask

I've had mine now for 6 days and will mostly echo what has been said previously. The Audi influence is strong particularly with the switch gear.

The Porsche signature rotating light switch has been replaced by 4 glossy buttons which feel cheap and not very intuitive in their operation.
The glossy glass touch sensitive buttons on the central console will very quickly look like my ipad after the soaps on TV have finished.
The park button on the gear level takes some getting used to especially when the parking brake is so close. I've found myself putting the parking brake on instead of putting the car into park. In fact the car should automatically go into park if the parking brake is applied. Maybe this will happen when the software is patched.
The PDC system comes on automatically when you approach something which is normal. If you stop it goes off immediately and you have to start moving again for it to activate. I'd prefer it if it stayed on as it does with the Macan. You can turn the assist on central dash but its a bit of faff so I've programmed my diamond on the wheel to turn on the park assist.
I washed the car today and the rear windscreen wiper cover fell off and now doesn't click into place. Looking at it I would say its not the right part because there doesn't appear to be any way of clipping it into place. Its now in the boot and I'll call the OPC on Monday.

I have the standard PASM on 21" wheels and it feels nice and plush. My wife says if feels like a mini bus compared to the Macan in how it wafts along.
We've done around 140 miles of urban driving and have averaged 20mpg. The trick I think is to keep the revs below 2K. I suspect a heavy right foot will see the economy drop to low teens.
The engine is silent when moving which is nice after having the Macan diesel and Macan 2.0 prior to this.
Still cant figure out which app for apple/android I can use to view the connect services.
The roofline feels lower than my Macan did as I don't feel like I will be stretching as much when putting bikes on the roof.
I have the standard 8 way seats and they feel fine. I would have preferred the extended leather package but couldn't justify the cost.

This is clearly a design fault ! OPC Silverstone organised a family day at Woburn safari park this week in their cars. The only car the monkey’s did any damage to was the new Cayenne....and guess what the monkey’s manage to half inch ?!
