I was hoping that the diesel Cayenne would be back in production in time for my next change in 18-24 months time.

Oh well......it will mean another X5 for me then, as long as BMW haven't dropped diesel by then!

Got a "PAS sensor soiled" warning pop up this morning. Anyone had this? Had a quick google and only see it mentioned in relation to ACC online.

Dropped my daughter off and when I returned to the car 10 mins later the error was no longer there. Perhaps some ice or moisture on the sensor which cleared after the car warmed up a bit? Hopefully not another gremlin.

Recent OTA update doesn't appear to have fixed the crashing issue.

Car is going in to OPC West London Monday. Any idea what they give out as courtesy cars? I have some family to pickup from the airport the next day. If its likely to be something small, I'll have to arrange to swap cars with my old man.

With my OPC it's normally a Cayman but I wouldn't wait to find out. Ring them up and make sure it's a Macan or above because it'll be too late on the day.

From West London, I have had, Macan Turbo, Panamera Diesel, 2 x Caymans

Best to tell them what you need, during school term I always ask for something with 4 seats, holiday time anything will do for me

Hope this helps

Thanks guys. I did let them know I had 2 young children when making the booking last month. But didnt think to query which car they'd give me as I didnt know the family would be coming at the time.

I should be sensible and give them a call. I posted the question because I was expecting some VAG rubbish as thats what their tech turned up in previously. Now part of me wants to risk the inconvenience if I can hoon around in a Cayman for a couple of days (I only have the Cayenne so do miss driving a car sometimes). Mrs won't be happy as it's her parents that are coming, but I can inconvenience the old man to fill the gap.

Well I needn't have worried :/

Spoke to them to confirm courtesy car and I had been allocated a Macan. Got up on morning of appointment to see i'd been left a voicemail at 07:30 by the OPC. Called the lady back and was informed previous customer hadn't returned the courtesy car, so they'd call me once the car was back in. Week later not heard a dicky bird frown

Not sure if it's a process issue or staff issue, but this sort of thing keeps happening.

I had an S for 3 days the other week. I was happy to return it to the OPC. The car has become too much of a tech-fest - I couldn't even understand the air-flow controls for the outer air vents. It hasn't got the build quality of the previous shape Cayenne - for example outer door handles felt flimsy in comparison to my 2011 V6d. Quality of (upgrade) leather is still good, but plastics and that touch console is tacky as fk. Only plus points (for me) was the Burmeister sounded extremely good, and the car was quite quick when driven hard. I didn't think it sounded, or felt like a £94k (inc options) car. After 5 enjoyable years in my Cayenne diesel I have to say if buying the new model then for once I would take a Range Rover over the Cayenne. Fuel econ was shocking too. Normal driving was about 17-20mpg and best (driving very softly) was 25.

Mines going in Monday, meant to be getting a loan car, fingers crossed, I have had West London call me at the last moment and say car has not been returned !!

Mine's also booked in on Monday in Reading to sort out a recurring vibration when coasting to a halt. Fortunately it's very repeatable, but the tech who I demonstrated it to a few weeks ago had never seen anything like it. They do seem to be very short of courtesy cars; I had to wait over 5 weeks from the initial investigation to get a slot.

Dont know wether I should take comfort in the fact I'm not the only one, or be worried it will happen again smile

Family headed home today, so will chase OPC up. Surely that Macan has found its way back after 10 days. The ICE crash is getting annoying as sometimes the cameras don't work until the car is switched on/off.

You're having the crash issue as well. The issues with the sensors/cameras are probably related. As after a crash sometimes my cameras wont work until I turn the car off and start it again.

The previous gen used ICE that was well established in VAG. This time around it's Porsche that are rolling out the ICE first. Some teething problems are to be expected. But in exchange you get it a year or two in advance of the rest. Other then the crash issue (happens couple of times a week) I've been pretty impressed with reliability. Hope I don't jinx myself :/

To early to say for me only done 3K miles, but do NOT like the 24V system, when auto start/ stop engages in traffic, almost seems slow to respond and feels like just wrong, difficult to explain but switching off auto stop/ start eliminated this.

If I try and engage reverse quickly sometimes just does not engage, had a couple of instances coming out of reverse gear to D and similar nothing, do it slower and its fine !!

The Power and braking is amazing, thats what I keep telling myself.

I've only done 1200 miles :O

Dont really have any issue with stop/start. No worse then any other car I've had.

I do have an issue with the shifter. I mentioned it here before. It's not very tolerant of lateral movement. When shifting quickly you're probably moving it more laterally. I suspect they havent allowed enough tolerance and it thinks you want to go into manual shift mode.

The BMW shifter was far better in this respect. That's probably why I found it so bad initially, as I'd become conditioned to whacking it forward and back as I pleased. I'm getting used to this one now, but like you still occasionally have an issue when trying to change very quickly.

No significant problems with PCM crashes for me in 4,500 miles. It's done it once, where the display in the right hand bezel has crashed, but a restart cured it right away.

My only gripe about stop/start is that it's very keen to cut the engine out as you coast to a halt. It makes for slightly clunky progress if the engine stops at 1mph as you're about to pick up the throttle and move off.

I also haven't had a problem with the shifter, but given that it gets used about twice per journey, or a few more times when reversing, then I'm not really giving it a lot of stick! I only read in the manual the other day that you can put the car into pseudo-neutral (i.e. clutch disengaged) by pulling both paddles at the same time - I haven't tried it yet though.

p.s. One other update I should be getting on Monday is the software update, or at least the workaround, to cure the auxiliary heater issue. Apparently there's a problem that if you don't have the heater installed, the control widgets obviously don't display on the PCM, but the default PCM settings try to fire up the heater early every morning. With no heater present, the PCM starts, then crashes, and over a few weeks of no driving this flattens your battery. The workaround is that they code in the (non-existent) heater; change the now visible PCM settings to remove the scheduled start up; then un-code the heater. It's a lovely example of the sort of random software / hardware interaction bug that sneaks through on new cars these days, with so many config combinations to test.

Sorry to hear. Sounds like some wise guy decided to change suppliers for the new PCM. I wonder who does the head unit now.

I tried the auxiliary heater tonight for a few minutes and it steamed the windows up.

Agree with the comment on the gear-lever, I keep going across the gate when trying to select reverse.

Hybrid system is outstanding though, very impressive.

I can’t seem to get destinations sync’d From the app to the car, they don’t seem to appear anywhere. Also, it seems to randomly log me out of the Porsche ID account in the car.
