[quote=5to1]Whilst I like the Cayenne I'm beginning to get hacked off with the rest of the experience :/

After the pre-sales debacle the after sales is proving to be just as bad. Several weeks to get the car seen, then a 7am call on the day to say the courtesy car hadn't been returned and they'd call me back as soon as it had turned up. Couple of weeks later I called back to ask if they'd found the courtesy car yet and received an apology and a new date (again couple of weeks wait).

My car went in got a courtesy car, they had car for 4 days, all I wanted done was the constant crashing of PCM system and right dash binnacle, guess what has not helped one iota, still does it, all they where interested in was being able to download a PDF for the tracking system, for my insurance company!!!

My insurance company have not requested this nor had I.

So I would not hold your breathe if my experience of ten crashing is anything to go by

Great frown

I asked the agent what they planned to do and he said they would be doing a software update. I asked if this was a known issue then and if the update had a bug fix. He said they'd seen it on other customer cars and the issue hadn't recurred after the update, but there was no specific bug fix. I was dubious and it appears from your experience rightly so.

Generally the crash doesn't bother me too much. But I have two major issues:

1) I opted for surround view as it was a requisite for my wife to feel comfortable with a car of this size. The crash not only prevents her from using the cameras whilst the system reboots, but often they don't work after the system has reboot. The car has to be switched off and started again to get them working. Not practical in London traffic.

2) My daughter insists on listening to her music and has a hissy fit when the crash interrupts it. Not good when its just me and her and i'm trying to drive :/

Saturday I get a call to say they might cancel again as their courtesy car hadn't been returned and the customer wasn't answering the phone. No call this morning so I called myself and was assured they had a courtesy car for me. Sat there for an hour and I'm given a Cayman (I had previously explained I have two young children). I contemplated taking it, but my car seats are ISOFIX which the Cayman isn't equipped with. Some more apologies and an assurance they'd drop a car to my house and take my Cayenne later today when one of their courtesy cars turns up.

I then asked what was going on with my deposit I placed 6 months ago (with a Nov delivery estimate) and the service agent went and spoke to a manager who was supposed to give me a call back.

I can't believe they have contrived to hire a building full of useless staff. The service agent was polite and extremely apologetic. And appeared to be competent. So I can only imagine this is a management/process issue.
True to form, not heard a dicky bird since :/ Time to initiate attempt number 3!

Anyone know what off-road setting to drive the cayenne in ice/snow?

Never understand why most 4x4s don’t just have a snow mode rather than sand or rocks.

First setting is Winter Tyres.....electronics can only get you so far.

Second setting is no sudden inputs .

Going downhill use Hill Descent Control

Lock the diffs if you’re struggling for grip...if that doesn’t work you need chains.

On serious note with winter tyres and hill descent control you should be able to cope with most conditions.

Finally got my car in after 3 months and two cancelled bookings. They did a software update which "should" fix the issues. Time will tell.

On a side note they gave me a Diesel Macan S. Was a blast to drive, but also felt a lot smaller inside compared to the Cayenne. In particular the rear facing car seat didn't allow much room for the passenger in front as the seat needed to be almost fully forward.

I did my last journey back to back so thought I'd share the consumption figures:

Macan S (Diesel)

Ave Speed 24 mph
Ave Cons 31.3 mpg
Distance 7.3 miles

Cayenne

Ave Speed 23 mph
Ave Cons 22.7 mpg
Distance 7.3 miles

Ditto, I also now get parking aid requires service in right hand side screen on dash, then main screen goes blank, for a few mins and reboots

Just learning to deal with it as they have no fix

I'm speechless - this shouldn't be happening to a Porka. They sound like the sort of gremlins you'd get in a JLR product.

Feel sorry for you guys.

Strange - I don’t get any random crashes at all after 5k miles; I just need a new PCM glovebox unit as the external SIM slot doesn’t work. I think it’s indicative that Porsche don’t have their testing strategy right for the number of configuration variants across complex interacting systems. Must try harder!

Do either of you have surround view?

The crash doesn’t bother me too much. The problem is quite often surround view stops working after the crash and the car needs to be restarted to get it back. My wife’s not used to such a big car and relies on the cameras in a very tight spot. They’ve probably saved the diamond cut alloys aswell.

Yes, I have surround view. I haven’t had problems with that crashing or failing to display, just the annoying bug with the dipping left hand mirror that everyone seems to have.

Looks like it’s just me and Saj in that case.

I can live with the mirror issue. The nav crash taking out the cameras and parking sensors is more of an issue for me :/

Just sent another email to my SA as didn’t receive a response for my last one frown Proving to be a frustrating experience owning a Porsche.

Update;

I am taking back my Cayenne S as since ive owned it, the tracker for some reason does NOT work, the Nav crashes (had new one) and all the AAC, lights issues keep pinging up, so i have decided to cut my losses and get it gone.

I did have a new Turbo on order due to be delivered March, but i dont think ill bother with it now

Are you sure the Turbo would arrive in March anyway? I’ve had a deposit on for Nov 18 delivery. Not hear nothing since, despite being assured the sales manager would get in touch :/

What are you moving on to? I like the car, about as good as a SUV can get for me in terms of driving. But the OPC experience has been truly dire frown

FWIW i asked for my £3k deposit to be returned last week. I paid it last Spring for a new Cayenne hybrid however my patience ran out..Its truly a shambolic situation and not what you'd expect from a major car maker.

I can appreciate WLTP has put them in a difficult position. Albeit they’ve backed themselves into a corner by designing so tightly to the regs and not considering it couldn’t go on forever.

But what irks me most is the complete and utter lack of courtesy. They simply never call you back :/

Only reason I haven’t moved on is in SUV land the alternatives are less palatable coming from cars. Also there is a chance this shambles with supply is bolstering residuals on my current Cayenne. So when the taps open if I get an early one (as I should), there’s a possibility of switching for less then the normal depreciation.

Although specifying HUD will probably wipe that out biggrin

I dont think the OPC’s are to blame in this particular case....but am sure you know that Taffy. Whether it’s Porsche GB or Porsche AG that are to blame I don’t know but the communication on production/build slots across the whole range is just bloody awful

I read yesterday that Porsche will not build any more Hybrids for the time being due to the new emission standards.

Yes, hybrid production won't resume until they have found a way to about double the electric only range, from what I've seen/read.
Could be a while if so......
