I was told by my friendly dealer that they can only let you have a solo test drive on a taxed vehicle. If it is not taxed it needs trade plates and a dealer co-pilot...
I just picked up a 997 Turbo - the dealer let me out on my own with trade plates for test drive.

If your spending £130k i assume you started with a GTS , which is the right choice .

Having owned a Gen 1, I can say it was a fantastic car . I didn't have any concerns with buffeting . Do it !

That is Stunning! do you still have it?

That looks really really good. And I really want a targa even if I usually don't like open top cars

There's a reason they spec the carbon wheel, as well as it being showy if a woman drives it, wheel doesnt get ruined by make up residue transfer as badly as with leather/alcantara

IMO the Targa is the pick of the range!
They look particularly good in retro colours but all the ones pictured on this thread look fab also.

The 991 Targa 4 GTS weighs 135kg more than a 991 Coupe GTS, which is the equivalent of having two 10.5 stone adults in the car with you at all times. smile
I think the 991 Targa looks superb - but as mentioned above-they are heavy.
I've driven a 991.1 targa for the day and have to admit it was not particularly
exciting to drive -at all. It was nice to cruise around in all the same.
At that sort of dollar though I'd definitely feel inclined to get a turbo S
and have blistering performance on tap.

Spent most of the day out topless in the gts targa

Initial impressions, not as sharp as a 2s
However it has the wow factor - it sure does go without having to rev hard like my previous 991.1 targa 4s. The Low down torque really works well with the gen2 targa. Guessing this is what the turbos are all about. As for the way it sounds still gurgles, plenty of pops, crackles with a whistle but somewhat muted compared to the gen1 cars and pse on the 997's.

Also very nice cabin with the red stitching and alcantara and wheel from the 918

Be good to hear from fellow targa owners your experiences of ownership

Went from the 991.1 targa 4s to .2 targa 4s and for me it's much more improved, it does everything I want

How do you drive/use it? New engine gives it much great flexibility especially as a cruiser with torque!
