Squeaky brakes offending my ears

I picked up my GT4 last Friday and annoyingly the brakes are really squeaky. They're the standard steel brakes which is what surprises me. The car was first registered 10 months ago and had only done 750mi is it possible that they have become contaminated or something to that description? I am going to take it in to my nearest service centre to get them to look at them but just wondered if any of you have had similar or any thoughts? I've done 200 miles in the car since collecting it and done some firm breaking from a decent speed to see if a bit of wear would fix it but no joy...

Mine does it every now and then but seems to be not so bad as miles pile on! So nothing to worry about but still annoying

Warm the brakes up to normal temp, then brake as hard as possible without activating the ABS several times from about a ton down to 30 ( the pads should smell like you've set them on fire ). Follow this up with an extended period of driving without using the brakes and let them cool off. Park it with the handbrake off at the end. Basically, you're just re-bedding the pads in. In my experience, it's a 50/50 success rate, it didn't work on one set of pads, and did on the other when I had the same problem.

The hardest thing about doing this is finding somewhere to do this, I found the braking part easier than the not braking for 20 mins afterwards.

Ceramic and steel GT4/GT3 brakes are prone to squealing. All part of the drama!

Could be a build up of brake dust.

Try hosing out accumulated dust when brakes cold.

It will if you can do enough of it from high enough speeds, but I accept it's a difficult thing to achieve. Pulling the pads out and removing the glaze by going at them on a flat block with 40 grade emery would do it. I'd scuff the discs while I was at it. Also make sure there are chamfers on all edges of the pads, not just the leading edge, and that there aren't any lips on the discs. Be surprised if there are at that mileage though. Obviously put back together with all relevant surfaces lightly copperslipped.

When none of the above worked I managed to stop mine squeaking for a few thousand miles by spraying the back of the pads with anti-squeal spray, it basically sticks the pad to the pistons and ensures the pads don't remain in contact with the disc when off the brakes, used it out of desperation, but it did the job.

Interesting thread, have had this on mine a couple times. Seems to go away after the brakes are up to temp.
Only seems to happen when lightly braking too. Reckon an indy or OPC can take a look. I'll be asking them to look over mine at next service.

Same concerns as OP, except my GT4 has ceramics. They are noisy from shushing at low pressure to near ultrasonic squeeks at higher pressure. A couple of hard stops will reduce the squealing and they are better when hot but it doesnt go away. I can live with it, but it's a bit embarrasing in traffic.

Didn't expect this because my GTS had ceramics too. They would make a noise from time to time but not to the same extent.

Will see dealer service this morning (key stopped working) and ask about this.
