I have never been particularly good at achieving high mpg in my cars, but a trip from Milton Keynes to Reading today proved the point that I need to drive a little more conservatively!!

I'd love to see what the 991.2GTS could achieve on the same journey.

PS - Before I get too much grief I was with a colleague and we were running early.

That's incredible did you touch the accelerator or was it all down hill?
The best average I have ever seen in any Porsche driving very carefully is about 33mpg!

Car is a 991.1GTS.

I must say I was pretty shocked myself I wasn't really trying to achieve high MPG, but I was chatting to a colleague and traffic was a little heavy.

Don't think the guys in the Macan & Cayennes will be able to compete with that! Definitely not if it's petroll.

I can confirm FWIW, from experience, that no way, no how can a 996 turbo compete with that either. That's a very impressive figure for such a capable sports car.

I get similar figures out of my 981 pdk, I do 60 miles a day and average is anywhere between 30mpg and 43mpg, it goes higher if you turn AC off but I always leave it on.

That said come weekends it goes a lot lower joining about, but overall after 8000 miles my average is 27.03 (worked out manually).

Certainly need to be careful there!

IIRC the GT2 did ~21-22mpg Sweden - London.

Pretty much what I think mine did UK to Nurburgring and back.

Don't even want to think what consumption was for the day plus two touristenfahrten laps at the 'Ring. 114 litres bought at ED Tankstelle.

36 mpg on my 997 GTS bringing it home from Leeds to Manc, first drive. Cruise on and stuck to 70mph most of the way. As and when my ba**s grew, I now average a more respectable 23mpg.
