But you are talking about a 911, not a 987 Cayman/ Boxster.
Ah yeah i am, sorry...

997 Carrera certainly does top speed in 6th and I be surprised if the turbo was any different. The GT3 was the first PDK to use 7th for top speed rather than an overdrive as far as I recall.
I can't say for a Carrera but the PDK gearing in the Turbo will not hit it's top speed in 6th with Sport Plus, the max in 6th is approx 196mph, changing to sport only and using the 7th gear allows it to go to 200mph+

The rest of us are, yes. For standard output cars.

The theoretical top speed in a longer gear will always be higher, because it's just a calculation of speed at maximum revs, but whether the car can actually go any faster in it will depend on how powerful the engine is. If it can't hit the rev limiter in 6th, it won't go any faster in 7th.

No, but the question was

Thanks for the insights, but does that not mean my top speed is compromised in sport plus if I'm a gear short?
which i answered. Short answer is yes, the top speed is compromised due to the gearing.

But the correct answer is no, as standard cars won't pull higher speeds in 7th than they achieve in 6th.

Sport Plus is about increased throttle response and argiuably getting you between corners quicker. It's not a Vmax mode.

When I bought my 997.2 3.8S PDK it didn't have Sport or Sport Plus. It has 385BHP and has a Vmax (of 180 something I think). I have subsequently upgraded it to have Sport and Sport Plus. The throttle response is much quicker of course, and no, I cannot select 7th gear either. However, I've still got 385BHP and so my Vmax will not increase by having Sport Plus switched on - in fact, it might be less as you have noted. I cannot think of a circuit in the UK where a 987 or 997 could reach much more than 160 MPH between corners. If you're doing a Vmax event, you'll have enough runway to do it without Sport Plus switched on.
