Hi All,

Been a stty week 964 stolen last Sunday...

...Now the bonnet on the 996 turbo will not open. It's a 2004 car with the electric release. Note that the rear lid still works.

Anyone know how to release it manually?
Could it just be a blown fuse?

It worked a couple of days ago.

Thank in advance

Sunil

The release cable will be at the front, not the rear. LHS front wheel arch liner covers it I think.

Hi All,

Magically started working on its own. Think it was just the heat??

Cheers

I would check the condition of the steel wire that releases the bonnet. Mine snapped and I had to use the override cable and changed the assembly.

Does the electric one use a cable to actuate?

Yes however iirc the override is part of the same mechanism.

I can't see that in this picture. It looks like the wires from the switch reach the latch.

Lubricate the lock and also the bonnet U thing. Next time, get someone to press down on the bonnet while you actuate the button, to release the tension. Or the other way round, ideally.
