I think the GT 997's are probably the most vulnerable
Hadn’t thought this likely so interested in why you think this?

I can see 991 perhaps being less than 997 in a few years. The bog standard 2005 997 C2 is a very pretty and special car. Then you have the mezger engine certain models etc etc.
In a few years, yes that’s likely, especially on certain cars, and given 991 numbers etc.
Not in a short term ‘bubble’ deflation though, while values are still linked to age. (Other than 4.0RS)

Yes the bubble models are all poised to maybe take a bit of a clip. 50,000 mile 997 GT2s like the one in the classifieds for list or list plus £20k. Its like buyers aren't taking running costs into accounts which can be very high on a 50,000 mile GT2 if something like an engine or gearbox needs a refresh. Even consumables like PCCB are expensive. Same with GT3s etc. Be interesting to see what happens over next few years.

Consumables/Maintenance are 5he the thing that people just don’t seem to talk about. A couple mates have owned 993’s for ten years or so...both cars have doubled in value from say £25k to £50k but neither thinks he’s really made money as both reckon they’ve spent that in normal maintenance plus the odd bigger bill commensurate with a 20 year old car.

People will swallow these kinds of running costs when cars are appreciating when they aren’t it’s an awful lot less palatible, The classic garage queen is an easy asset to own when its appreciating 10 per cent a year. Less so when it’s costing two grand in maintenance and lost £10k in value.

So the 993s have been free motoring? Your mates have done better than the average block in a diesel rep mobile that is losing £5k per year

Lots of people drive so few miles that petrol is neither here nor there. I doubt I drive 5,000 per year.

Also, I’ve no problem paying money per mile for a nice car. It would only bother me for the car to be losing money sitting still. But smiles per mile and all that.

Worth remembering that plenty of Porsche owners don’t have to worry about car money from any practical perspective, they just don’t like feeling like it is wasted.

Big time. Depreciation sucks. I am amazed how many people will tolerate the first year depreciation on a new car.

Yes it is.

A reminder how pernicious a lot of peoples' obsession with values is to actually enjoying the cars.

I do recall when 991 RS's were trading at 275 when new and JZM recently sold a purple one at ( I'm guessing) less than 160 net to the seller.

I'd not be paying 50k for a 911 SC now but that's me .

Posts like the above are sorely missing from the various Porsche forums.

Got a 997 GTS with 24k miles earlier this year, first Porsche / always dreamt of one (common story), we've already put 7k since and still got an euro trip left to do this year.

I get that people who like investing will turn to things that give them yield. But cars used to be things the majority of us petrolheads just wanted to drive.

Wish I had paid something more sensible for my car but life's too short to live regretting your choices.

Who doesn't love Jerry Seinfield's comment on here (1999 - Porsche swap meet);

"There is not one person here that conduct a conversation or eating a meal without the food falling out of their mouth. The biggest losers in the world and I'm one of them."laugh

Lovely car, I passed you today on the Hayle road. Typical, I've been in mine quite a lot over the last few weeks and can't remember the last time a saw a 993, today I decided to leave mine at home! Car looked great despite the weather!

Absolutely agree

There are a growing number of people on this forum who seem to know the price of everything and the value of nothing
