True Gen 2 depreciation
Discussion
For all the commentators on 997 Gen 2 values on here I have just done a deal with an OPC Changing my manual 59 reg 2010 model C2s with 42,000 miles against a 981 Cayman S PDK 64 reg with 18,000 miles, which was up for £45,000 and I will have to find £5000.
I have had the 911( my third) for 4 years bought from OPC Tonbridge for £45,000 and It has been trouble free and I fancied a change.
Reasons for the Cayman are very good value for money and 991s are far too much for me at the moment ( another £15 to 20k on top), also the road tax on the 997 is due at month end at £520 and it could also do with 2 new rear tyres!!
So there we are- real life rather than speculation.

Bit of a strange reason to sell the car... you'll have to pay £280 to tax the new car anyway.Very good px price though, I was offered £32k for mine (slightly higher miles, 52k)

My mate was offered low £40s for an immaculate (bar a few stone chips), high spec 59 plate C2S with 14k miles on last month from an OPC. Similar cars on Autotrader are mid to high £50s... Oh how he laughed!
I would have thought that was a good price and would be lucky to do any better privately never seen a 59plate for more than £45k unless in Hexagon but then they sit around for months!I have seen similar 2010/11 cars for £45-50k!GT4P said:

911s? Doubtful. Especially with less than 15k miles...ETA. 09 plate on OPC site, mediocre spec, 24k miles up at £52k...

C moose- I covered around 22,000 miles over the 4 years , which worked in well with the 2 year service. not keen on oil going 20k miles.
When I was thinking about changing earlier in the year (may /June) values were around £35k trade and I was hoping for 37/ 38 so was surprised.
Quite sad to see it go but Cayman is a superb drive and is cheaper to tax and insure also!!
I am planning to keep the Cayman for the next 4 years also, until GT4s have had the full brunt of the market- what price then?

Mine too is a manual 59 reg 2010 model C2S, also with 42,000 miles! I paid £40,500 for mine 12 months ago (from a non-specialist dealer) and whilst I have no intention of selling, I've been keeping an eye on values and don't think I could buy now for what I paid then. The fact an OPC would offer £40K (accepted there was skin in the game for them with a car going the other way) for a very similar car to mine is pretty reassuring. All helps with the man maths anyway!
A big factor on Gen 2 997 prices at the moment I think is the big gap to early991s at least £15 to£20k so a good tidy full history car like mine is more attractive.
When I paid £45 k 4 years ago the car had depreciated nearly 50%, there is no way a 991 has done the same at the moment and now the Gen2 991 has gone turbo they will hold there value even more IMHO.
