I've configured the car I would like and it comes up at £102,000.

What should I aim for at the dealer? It would be part exchange plus cash.

Anyone know the lead time currently?

If it's a 911 I doubt you'll get very much if anything...OPC's can sell every car they can get their hands on. I was talking to the sales guy at my OPC last week....he's desperately trying to get a build slot for a Carrera S for a client....they don't have any free slots for a year. Panamera maybe a chance! New Cayenne Turbo ? Absolutely no chance I would think.

Oh sorry, yes I guess the model matters.

Just ordered 718 GTS Boxster - no chance of discount! As previous poster said OPC can sell all cars it gets so unless you were lucky enough to get a cancelled order slot, I think you are very unlikely to get anything!

Oh, that's disappointing but not the end of the world I guess.

Think of it like this....if they were discounting them to shift them it would be reflected in residuals (take a look at BMW M cars)...so your ownership costs would end up being much higher. A Targa will hold it's value very well....OPC's don't get many build slots.

The only scope for negotiation is in the value of your trade-in.

Got to agree with this...I had almost £30K off a new M6 order 3 years ago and still took a big hit 18 months later on p/ex...I got a latte, an umbrella, handshake and a smile when I picked up my 911 so I hope that is reflected in the future value wink

Sometimes I think a potential discount can be down to luck/timing.

I managed £1000 off my first new Porsche (981 Boxster) in 2014 and £1700 off my 718 12mths ago. Placed my order for the 718 just as all the negative road test reports from the motoring press hit. I believe I was one of only a handful of orders at my OPC. They mentioned clients had little interest in the 718, hence me getting a discount. Roll on 4mths, physical cars appear at dealerships, interest peaks, OPC waiting list goes from 1mth to 9mths in a matter of days. All discounts disappear...
