The recurring 911 (991) child seat question
Discussion
My eyes hurt from searching and reading the many posts on child seats in 911s, I'm looking for updated advice and any tips.
I have a 12 month old and a 991.2 on order, he will be more or less 15 months old when it arrives.
The law says rear facing up to 15 months, and I think a Group 1 seat, but some posts say keep them rear facing for longer.
Basically, he needs to be able to travel in the back seat behind his mother, is this realistically possible or am I deluding myself?
Any thoughts very welcome..

I have searched on this very subject as I have just ordered a GTS. I opted for the isofix option on the passenger seat as my 9 month old little boy needs a rear facing child seat until 15 months. It appears Porsche do not supply any rear facing seats for the rear seats hence why I will have to use the passenger seat for the time being. A quick google search reveals what the law says about child seat orientation - new laws it seems..
This Porsche's G1 seat in my 991.2. I've used it occasionally for my 2 year old boy and I have to reinforce to him that this is a fun experience so that he forgets about the lack of legroom! My wife who's 5 foot 5 is fine in front.
Our maxi cosi cabriofix baby seat fits in very snugly rear facing and can be strapped in with the seatbelt. Unfortunately I can't physically get in the car then and I'm only 5 foot 11. Potentially my wife could drive us if I squeezed into the passenger seat but I think it'd be for emergencies only and we've never tried it.
I'm looking forward to the sweet spot when my 2 lads will be 6+ and just fit in with a small
Booster cushion to fit the requirements. It'll be nice to take them out to do all the things my wife hates, watch rugby, motor racing etc!

Why don't you put the baby seat behind the passenger (your wife's) seat? We've done that and it's fine, same heights as you.I think the Cabriofix is only up to 1 year though, our 1 year old has grown out of it as his legs were too long.

Previoualy I have strapped a forward facing child seat onto the passenger seat in my 991.1 - although my son was 2 and half years old at the time. I was conscious of the 15 month thing and wasn’t prepared to take him out until he was a bit larger.
The reality is that yes a forward facing seat does fit in the rear but it’s cramped, the baby seat squashes / marks the leather and your child will watch to the kick the back of your lovely Porsche seats which I’m sure will make you want to put him / her in the boot.
In our daily driver Mercedes ML our children now 1 and 3 have always faced backwards for additional safety etc.
Whenever I take my son out in the Porsche it’s always naturally a very slow and steady affair anyway.

Car seats can be hard to install. Recently tried to install one, it didn't look good to me after I installed it. So I had to ask for help.
I went to the fire department near me and asked for help with the car seat. The did help me and showed me the correct way to install them and told to read a guide how to do it in future.
If you are I doubt, to be safe, just head to the nearest fire department and they will help

I have had both kids using the porsche car seat in back of my 991 with no issues. Yes a little tight but it’s not for long trips. For me it means i can have a sports car and still use to take kids to football etc. Now they are 7 and 5 I have the box type booster seats so they just jump in themselves.
I am looking to sell my porsche purchased car seat now as they have grown out of it if interested

I bought the cheapest halfords booster type seat available which was something like 15 or 20 quid. First halfords I tried had no stock. As with all modern boosters now it also has a minimal type backrest. I use it regularly in my 996 which is a lot smaller than a 991 I'd guess. I've used it in the back and in the front. I chose it because I saw a post from someone on here with 2 in the back of his 996.
Can get pics if anyone is interested.
